    Hi Guys, i need some Advice here, I want this Sound to be clear and well defined in Mixing. Somehow I have the Feeling the Mids are too much in Definition. I only use my Headphones. But maybe Someone has a nice Studio Monitor and detect some Resonance Ringing Frequencies.

    Hi Markus, 

    thanks for sharing the .wav file.

    Your piece is interesting, i really enjoyed it.

    I have managed to identify some high ringing frequencies at 2.5, 3.2 and 3.9KHz. The resonance menu presets from Vienna Suite really helped. Unfortunately, i can't label what's going on within your mids....i am afraid this must be done one instrument at a time.

    Some problematic low frequencies in the first crescendo might depend on the Double Basses.

    You might also wish to tame some IR's resonances.

    Here is my advice: have one instance of the Vienna Suite Equalizer on each instrument track, pick up the resonance menu preset (from Dietz himself) and turn on the built in analyzer...... you will label the annoying frequencies and decide how much you need to cut. Each piece is different (the key etc...), getting rid of all the resonances is too much.

    Once your instruments are 0.K. and you are happy with your general reverb settings, you can add an Eq after the reverb (here is what i do, others might do it differently) and tame the room resonances. You will do the same Eq on the other stems, more or less.

    Last but not least, a couple of speakers might ease your work in many ways. Even if they bottom at 55Hz (hence forcing you to a blind high pass) and even if your listening environment is sub-optimal they will help you identifying the problematic frequencies faster. Just letting you know: thanks to Dietz i started having more reference tracks, and this led me to know my speakers better, to an extent this might work with headphones too.....not sure though.

    Thank You, ok I see I used the VSL Equalizer alot maybe too often, I do compare be´tween some different versions and came to the conclusion that too much Equalizing is not the best Idea.

    It's all down on your personal mixing habits, however i see what you say and i agree: less Eq is better. This is particularly true when using VSL samples.... where a different IR or some slight changes in the performance could simply make the sound you're after.

    This Video help me alot in Understanding, now I want to use the Hybrid Reverb for the 3 Different Vienna Ensemble. But now I see alot of Parameters i dont understand yet, So whats the AR Delay ?

    If I now want to setup the Rear ERs to 36ms Mid ERs to 42ms and Front ERs to 50ms what other Parameters increase the Perception of an Instrument is turning into Distance ?

    "AR" is a slighty misleading abbreviation for "Algorithmic Reverb" (opposed to the convolution-based early reflections-part, "ER" in the upper right corner). I write "misleading" because the lower section's headline in the GUI actually reads "Algorithmic Tail", not "Reverb".

    Ok then the lower section are the Tailsettings and the Upper section are the ER Settings. There are lot of Parameters on the Hybrid Reverb I will check the Manual too ;)

    Ive made a Update on the "Stringsample", now with 3 different ERs for Strings, Woodwinds and Brass and a Masterreverb which only uses the Tailreverb. Im very happy with that in Comparison with the first Sample.
