  • Registering Vienna Key

    Hello Paul,

I've just bought a new Vienna Key and transferred my licences from an old key to it. I entered the serial no of the new key on the VSL website. The licences are installed okay. Does that complete the procedure? Or do I have to check the new key on the website now the licences are there? I want to check to make sure the two-year warranty is started in the right way.

    Thanks,

    Oceanview

  • Hello Oceanview,

That´s fine as it is now (licenses transferred, key registered with us).
The 2-year warranty starts from the day of purchase.

    Best,
    Paul

  • I don't know when I purchased my key.  How do I find out?  I want to avoid problems with VSL not replacing licenses for lost or broken keys.  This seems to be a problem as noted in another recent thread.  I don't want to have to repurchase all of my libraries.

  • Hello Nitrox32,

Your receipts should tell you when you purchased your keys. Also the serial number will be something of an indicator on how old a key really is.
If you have always downloaded a license onto it right after purchase, that´s something we can check for you, to help with orientation, and you can contact us as usual at support@vsl.co.at.

    Best,
    Paul

    Tip💡

If at all possible, register the key as soon as you buy it because it will show up in your user area along with the date that you registered it.  Just look in your user area every once in a while then you'll know when you need a new key.

    Tip💡

(This is for mostly North American customers)

If you purchased your key at Ilio.com they have a record of that purchase and the invoice on file.  This is handy if your key malfunctions within the two year warranty because you can send it to Ilio without a copy of the invoice. They'll already have it on file.

    Hope this helps😉

  • Is there really no way to select all licenses at once in eLicenser ? They have to be dragged one by one to the new key?

  • Hello Bill,

That´s correct, you need to move licenses one by one from one eLicenser key to another.

I thought we had computers to do things like that! 😉

eLicenser locked up a couple of time right after a transfer. I haven't had a chance to make sure nothing was lost. The new version (1203) seems very flakey.

  • If the warranty starts from the date of purchase and not from registration date, why should I register my key with VSL?  Does Steinberg handle the warranty is the eLicenser fails?  If so, since my VSL licenses are not registered in my Steinberg account, how do I go about having my licenses restored to the replacement key?

  • Concerning the Vienna key, in my user area it says, "We recommend registering all of your ViennaKeys or other eLicenser (formerly Syncrosoft) USB protection devices holding licenses of your VSL products. This will allow us to provide faster help in case you have problems with your licenses." And AFAIK vsl handles any warranty issues.
