About the Vienna Symphonic Library: Tradition – Inspiration – Innovation. The goals of the Vienna Symphonic Library are holistic concerning quantity as well as quality, just in the sense of Aristotle, who said “The whole is more than the sum of its parts”.

David Ender

Manual Writer, Translation, Instruments Expert

The same strange circumstances which made my birthplace Australia also brought me to Austria. My love of music and language led me to composing and improvising all kinds of music, writing books, and performance work with dance and improvisation groups. Currently my favourite instruments are piano and bass guitar, but I’ve always tried to play everything I could get my hands on.

After studying ethnomusicology and indology, and having tried many trades and professions, my previous experience as a translator, writer of hard- and software manuals, programmer etc. came in very handy when I started working for the Vienna Symphonic Library.

My initial feeling of awe has refined to a deep appreciation of what’s happening here, and I’m very glad to be a part of it, helping those fabulous samples get on their way ...

I was born into a family with parents who are very enthusiastic about music, so I developed a great sympathy and love towards music and film. My parents are also to blame for my basic skills in playing the piano and the guitar. In 2002 I also started DJing – and besides all that, I'm working as a freelancer in the IT business. At the moment, I'm about to finish my studies at the University of Vienna (Pedagogy and International Development), and I am thrilled to have the possibility of working together with the great team of the Vienna Symphonic Library!

On the Vienna Symphonic Library: A professional and very friendly team, products that the rest of the world envies us for – what more could you ask for?

Born into a family of enthusiastic singers in Carinthia I´ve been singing in choirs for as long as I can remember. Other musical training: guitar; degree course in musicology at Vienna University since 1999.

Prior to this my career plan was completely different: I studied Russian and journalism with communication science at Vienna University, where I learned to write copy in a scientific way. From 1992 I worked as a journalist and created concepts in the field of media, and as a translator and interpreter for Russian and German.

While studying I became interested in classical music, developing a taste for Beethoven and Schubert then baroque and romantic music (it was Valery Gergiev who first showed me the delights of Wagner). My main area of interest is Russian composers. Since 2000 I´ve been learning piano and devoting a great deal of time to instruments.

On the Vienna Symphonic Library: A creative symbiosis of imaginative people who devote all their faculties to the work.
