As a trumpeter’s daughter my childhood days begin utterly unspectacularly,
until that fateful day when the aforementioned trumpeter starts to teach me
the recorder. It starts in the usual way with Christmas carols, which are
followed by recitals at friends’ houses and at school. The “family
band” (a zither and four recorders) plays for several years. When my
brother switches to percussion, all the rest becomes unnecessary. Then come
six years of piano lessons - and I decide not to become a musician. I graduate
at the college of arts and crafts, and study art history. Since 1989 I’ve
been a freelance textile painter, but still keep an ear on music.
In 1990 my daughter Florentina was born, my son Max in 1991. In 1997, marriage
to the artistic director of the Vienna Symphonic Library, and on October 15,
1999 our dog Heidi moves in with us!
The chance to work for the Vienna Symphonic Library gave me the opportunity
to find out how good my hearing is and how useful the patience and meticulousness
that I learned from arts and crafts are for this line of work.
On the Vienna Symphonic Library: The Vienna Symphonic Library’s team
is the best, and I’m really enjoying working in a team after years of
working on my own. Apart from which it’s so uplifting to feel that I’m
making a contribution to this truly marvelous project.

I inherited my love of music from my mother; my fascination with mouse-clicking
and tangles of cables came from my father. So I already had some of the qualifications
required for working here. My university course – English and Tibetology
– didn’t contain enough music for my liking, so I joined the Vienna
university choir and was soon “promoted” to the ensemble the Vienna
Vocal Consort (www.vocalconsort.at).
To make sure the technician in me wasn’t neglected either I took the
sound recorder course at the SAE (School of Audio Engineers), and that made
me want to do more. Then a friend from the ensemble told me about the Vienna
Symphonic Library and I thought: that’s exactly what I want to do! So,
all I had to do was give Paul a quick call, and that was that – here
I am...
On the Vienna Symphonic Library: The perfect opportunity for me to increase
my knowledge. I can organize my working hours as I want, so everything is
possible: studies, ensemble, job and leisure time... no problem! And such
a brilliant crew – what more can an editor want?!?

Born in Osttirol in 1979. Ordinary schooldays including additional violin,
viola and piano lessons. Long experience in various orchestras and chamber
music ensembles. Studies in sound engineering and singing. Studies in meteorology
since fall '04 at the University of Vienna.
On the Vienna Symphonic Library: It's an incredibly interesting and extensive
project, but also a big challenge and everlasting learning process. Besides
music, there are other interesting topics and questions that pop up as well,
like 'How many editing engineers are able to cook in one kitchen at the same
time?' Or: "Who has eaten my chocolate bar, which I placed on the table
two seconds ago?"

Thanks to my violin studies and subsequent studies to become a sound recordist
I developed a good ear, which has proved to be exactly what’s required
for the work with the Vienna Symphonic Library. Experience with orchestras
and working in teams on recording sessions are also assets which help me to
do the job well.
On the Vienna Symphonic Library: Impressive technical and musical standards.
Pleasant working atmosphere.
