“Since 2004, I’ve been working as a demo composer for VSL, creating hundreds of demos that have allowed me to grow significantly as a composer and orchestrator. This journey has been a continuous learning process, with VSL libraries providing the freedom to experiment and refine my work in real time on my computer. I enjoy letting my imagination take the lead, knowing I can easily adjust or restart if a passage doesn’t resonate. My creative process varies each time; sometimes, it’s sparked by a new library I’m composing for—a particular articulation might inspire new ideas. At other times, my influences come from my musical background, particularly impressionistic and late Romantic composers like Tchaikovsky. Everyday experiences, like playing tennis or chess, also become sources of inspiration, shaping pieces in unexpected ways.”
"I was inspired to create this composition as a musical exploration of the intensity, rhythm, and elegance of a tennis match. Just as a ballet captures the grace and tension of dance, I wanted to evoke the dynamic interplay between players, the anticipation of each serve, the quick exchanges, and the crescendo of a match point. Tennis has a unique choreography—each swing and sprint is like a note in a melody, building a story of strategy and passion. Through this piece, I aimed to bring that athletic artistry to life in sound.”

"The Summit was born from a desire to evoke the emotional heights and sense of longing that long, unfolding melodies can bring—something I’ve always admired in the works of Tchaikovsky and Wagner. Their music holds you in suspense, pulling you toward a distant, almost unattainable peak before finally resolving. I wanted to create that same sense of reaching and striving, with the orchestra’s soaring strings mirroring the journey toward a summit that feels both exhilarating and just beyond reach. It’s a musical ascent, a climb toward something profound and boundless.”

"The Traveler’s Dreamscape was inspired by my admiration for Ravel’s masterful orchestration—his ability to paint vivid scenes with sound. I took on this piece as a creative challenge to showcase the capabilities of the new Synchron Prime Edition, aiming to craft something vibrant and dynamic for the orchestra. Exploring the textures and colors of the ensemble in this way was both exciting and deeply enjoyable, allowing me to push boundaries while celebrating the art of orchestration."

"Shifting Worlds was inspired by a desire to explore the full range of articulations in this orchestral library, capturing its versatility and expressive power. I especially enjoyed crafting the cinematic middle section, which recalls the evocative style of classic film music from the 50s and 60s, adding a nostalgic, dramatic layer to the piece."

"The Chess Game was inspired by the mental intensity and strategy of chess, a game I was immersed in daily at the time. Through the orchestra, I aimed to portray the unfolding drama of each move—from the calculated opening to the tense exchanges and, finally, the triumph of victory. The piece reflects the inner workings of a player’s mind, capturing both the tension and exhilaration of the game.”

"Race against Fate was inspired by the rich character and impressive realism of the Synchron Elite Strings, whose crisp staccatos and repeated notes brought an exciting intensity to the piece. This vivid sound opened many creative doors, making the writing process feel both natural and deeply inspiring."

"Pastoral Suite was inspired by the impressionistic beauty of Debussy and the evocative style of composers like Debussy and Ravel. Writing for French horn, alto flute, and harp allowed me to explore rich, subtle textures, and I enjoyed blending my own voice with the essence of impressionism. Seeing it performed multiple times in concert has been a true joy, as it’s wonderful to see how much it resonates with others."

"Mourning marked a pivotal moment in my compositional journey. I was inspired to experiment with a rhythmic orchestral accompaniment contrasting a slow, expressive melody on the cello—a daring choice that ultimately shaped the piece’s unique character. Seeing it resonate with audiences in multiple live performances has been incredibly rewarding, as it’s become a favorite among listeners."

"The Floating Coral Leaf was inspired by the vivid, atmospheric worlds of impressionistic composers. My goal was to create a colorful, immersive soundscape that evokes shifting hues and textures, much like a leaf drifting through water. This piece is a celebration of mood and nuance, capturing an impressionistic vision in sound."

"The Last Walk was crafted with woodwinds as the central focus, allowing their expressive qualities to shine. The inspiration came naturally as I developed a simple yet poignant melody, almost like an opera aria, giving the piece a lyrical and emotive character that highlights the beauty of the woodwinds."

"The Clown’s Waltz is one of my favorite pieces, inspired by the poetic and complex life of a clown. There’s a vibrant, colorful quality to the character, yet also an underlying depth and emotion that can be beautifully expressed through music. This piece allowed me to explore those layers, capturing both whimsy and poignancy in a lively orchestral setting.”

"Lament of the Wandering Violin was inspired by the soulful depth of Tzigane music, reinterpreted through a classical perspective much like Ravel's approach. I am deeply moved by how this style reflects the rich folk traditions of various countries. Combining these expressive melodies with classical orchestration offers a compelling avenue for exploration. This piece allowed me to delve into that fusion, creating music that honors the emotive power of Tzigane while blending it with traditional symphonic elements."

"In Storm and Serenity, I drew from the dramatic power of Beethoven, especially in the opening’s bold, accentuated chords, as well as the expressive style of Tchaikovsky. Writing for VSL gave me the freedom to follow my inspiration in the moment, blending these influences with my own style, allowing the piece to evolve naturally without strict adherence to any one tradition."

"Misty Reflections was inspired by my fascination with the expressive depth of the solo flute. Ever since hearing Debussy’s Syrinx, I’ve been captivated by how the flute alone can create such a beautifully evocative atmosphere. This piece allowed me to explore that unique voice, aiming to capture a similarly enchanting mood."

"Summer Celebration was a rewarding exploration of brass ensemble writing, a challenge I’ve always found intriguing. Composing this piece allowed me to delve into the rich, resonant sonorities unique to brass, revealing a vibrant, celebratory character that I thoroughly enjoyed discovering.”

"One of the exciting aspects of creating demos for VSL is the chance to discover new instruments, like the Fujara flute. Its distinctive sound, unlike anything else in the orchestra, offered a fresh creative landscape, inspiring me to experiment and explore its unique tonal qualities. Composing for this instrument was an incredibly enjoyable experience."

"Songs of the Wind is a celebration of the woodwind family, whose vibrant colors are often overlooked in today’s film music. Writing this demo allowed me to rediscover the unique textures and expressive qualities woodwinds bring, reminding me of their invaluable role in creating rich, atmospheric soundscapes."

"The Enchanted Toybox has a hypnotic quality, built on the repetition of a single melody and chord progression that transforms through different orchestrations. There’s something enchanting about this approach that seems to transport me into another world, as though the music itself opens the door to a whimsical, dreamlike realm.”

"A Christmas Eve Suspense allowed me to explore a more mysterious side of Christmas music. I wanted to weave familiar holiday motifs into a suspenseful atmosphere, creating a sense of uncertainty about where the piece would lead—until it ultimately resolves with a positive, uplifting ending. It was an exciting challenge to blend tradition with a touch of the unexpected.”

"I’ve always enjoyed arranging Christmas songs, and Carol of the Bells offered a unique challenge as a duet for two harps. This arrangement allowed me to explore the interplay between the two instruments, creating a fresh take on a holiday favorite. It’s been rewarding to see harpists appreciate and embrace this version as part of their repertoire.”
