Hi there!

This forum is great, lots of info!

I am trying to optimize my system to load up as many instruments as possible on my slave but Ve Pro 5 & Kontakt hog up the RAM memory like there is no tomorrow.

I have 32 gb RAM on my Slave PC. Loaded 10 instances of VE PRO 5, having 16 Kontakt Instruments in each instance. The memory usage is at 90% now but as I was checking each instance and adding the memory used from each instance I got that there is only 15gb beign used to hold the samples in the working RAM. I have read somewhere that Ve Pro as well as Kontakt create an overhead in working memory to perhaps be safe on the voice count and buffers and etc.... However, there might be a way to get rid of or at least shorten that RAM overhead.

Has anybody had any ideas how to do so?

Kindly appreciate any help/comments/followups ;)

In each instance of Kontakt, how many instruments are you loading?

Can you use fewer instances of VEP, with more MIDI ports perhaps?

I have 16 instrumetns in each instance of kontakt. One instance of kontakt per one Ve Pro instance. I tried loading/utilizing more midi ports but por some reason I am only able to use the "Midi Channels from PORT A 1-16 (from host)", the others ports appear to be "not availible". and if I add another instance of kontakt with 16 outputs in the same instance of Ve Pro, when I play a note on port A 1 for example, it triggers both first instruments from both kontakt instances. I hope I make sense here.

Is there a way to open Ports B C and D somehow? (In Kontakt midi channel menu)

No, they're only available in standalone mode.

Why not put more Kontakt instances in each VEP instance?

I have been trying to do that for the last week. But, what happens is:

I add an instance of Kontakt, load up 16 instrumnets, each isntrument is assigned with a dedicated output st1 thru 16, as well as midi input from port A 1 thru 16.

Then I add another instance of Kontakt, same procedure.

Then when I open Cubase 8, and try to play/record something with an instrument "one" loaded thru first Kontakt, i get sounds from both instances of Kontakt. I don't know why is this happening, even if the outpus are all routed correctly. The only common thing between the two instances is the midi inputs, but that shouldn't matter, right?
