Hi all,
firstly im sorry if this issue has been raised before.
I recently started using Ve Pro standalone on my master Mac Pro and Ive noticed that nothing happens when I click on the preferences tab in Ve Pro also in the dropdown menu at the top of the GUI the preferences tab is grayed out?
I also loaded Ve pro as a Plugin and its the same story there too?
Is there something wrong or am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Dean.

Hello darkmatter,

sorry for the delay.

Regarding pops and clicks: Did you try with a different latency setting?

If you are using VE PRO Standalone (not SERVER), the Preferences tab shoud work. In VE PRO SERVER, you can edit the settings in the VE PRO Server window.

Which plug-ins are you using inside VE PRO?

Thanks for the additional information.

Best,

Paul

Hi,

thanks!

If you are using the VE PRO Server, please click on the button "Preferences" in the VE PRO Server window directly (NOT in the GUI).

This is described in detail in the VE PRO Manual you can find in your User Area, with quite some pictures attached.

Regarding latency, I was asking about the latency of your soundcard. Does it get better if you change these settings? Also, did you try your used plug-ins separately (e.g., leave Kontakt out of your setup)?

Best,

Paul

Hi paul,

I have read the manual but missed that, thanks again.

RE preferences in Ve Pro server, what is the recommended amount of threads for instance,I have 32+ instruments loaded(2 x Play instances/2 x Kontakt instances and 1 x Omnisphere.)

I dont have any latency issues, just pops and clicks and crashing, hanging etc in Protools Play and Ve Pro

Thanks again,
Dean.

Hi Dean,

regarding Threads, I´ll quote from the manual, page 7:

"Audio Preferences: You may change the number of used threads in the Multiprocessing dropdown
menu in real-time, and each Vienna Ensemble PRO instance will use the specified number of process
threads. So 1 instance on an 8 core computer should use 8 threads, 2 instances should use 4 threads,
and so forth. Ideally you should have as few threads as possible. If you're also running your host
sequencer on the same system as the running instances, it might be wise to reserve a core for it."

I know that you don´t have latency issues, but pops and crackles usually indicate that your soundcard might need a different latency setting. Please give it a try.

Also:

Did you try to load a setup without PLAY? What happens?

Di you try to load a setup without Kontakt? What happens?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Am I right in thinking that 1 core = 2 threads?hence mac pro 8core = 16threads?

so if Im only using one Ve Pro instance on my Mac Pro 8 core, would it yeild better results if I use 8 threads for the 1 instance and leave the other 8 threads for Protools?
