VEP Server 32-bit on the slave Mac. It just doesn't work at all. 5 crashes in 10 minutes. I tested Play for several hours when I first installed it, and had no issues. Seems to me that the mayhem began after I changed to manual IP address. Can someone who got Play working please share some insight?
Thanks a lot - I'm stuck here.
EDIT: I just remembered that I used the previous build of VEP when Play worked. Fluke?

I'm using Play inside VEP and it's working without a hitch. I'm running Ministry of Rock and Pianos. Play v2.1.2 and VEP v4.1.8008
Buffer is 256, Digital Performer 7.22 as DAW. VEP in server mode. 2 instances of 32 bit, 2 instances of 64 bit VEP. OS is 10.6.7
I have the preferences in VEP set to use 2 multiprocessing threads per instance.
I've had some problems with Omnisphere but not with PLAY.

Thanks, John. It's the other way around for me. Omnisphere works just fine, Play does not. You use VEP on the same machine as your DAW? Also, do you use a dedicated instance of VEP for Play instruments?

Opened the Activity monitor, and during loading of samples into Play, the CPU usage suddenly spiked at 120%, and VEP suddenly quits.

Hi Stig,
Coincidentally, I do run separate instances of VE Pro for PLAY, but that's because the rest of my virtual instruments are 64 bit, so they go in a separate VE Pro instance and in the 64 bit version. This is all in the Mac that also is running Digital Performer. Audio goes out to Pro Tools on a separate machine.
I think everyone agrees that you need to load Kontakt last if you are using v4.x because of memory conflicts. I suspect this may be true even if you have a separate instance of VE Pro for PLAY.
Another possible culprit is any 32 bit bridge; some Logic users appear to have a problem with this.

Thanks a lot, John. The problem seems to be solved. I've moved Kontakt to a 64-bit instance instead, and I use only Ivory and Play in the 32-bit instance. I load the 32-bit first, then the 64-bit. I've written in more detail what I did over at soundsonline.
