I'd like to open a discussion about managing articulations in Kontakt for owners of the Kontakt version of the Horizon series or any other VSL libraries available in Kontakt format. The goal is to try to have a group of articulations on one midi channel like Vienna Instruments does and be able to use controller and control surfaces to control Vel Cross fade instruments and volume.

I am using Horizon Instruments in a Kontakt instrument bank and using a control surface to send program changes. One problem I have is if I use Mod Wheel blend instruments or setup an instrument's volume to be controlled with a slider etc the volume jumps if I switch to an instruments that's at a different volume.

I am interested in any idea about managing articulations in Kontakt

Regarding the problem you have, it is related to instrument banks not resending CC information when you switch instruments inside banks. There's a multy script for Kontakt that can solve this problem it's called Continuity Program Changer 1_1. Nickie here wrote the cript so you could write her and ask.

Also, you use Cubase 5 so you could load all articualtion inside instrument
banks and use VST expression to selct what ever articulation you want to use in the key editor for example. It's very cool.

Also check out Mind Control for Kontakt. It works wonderfully and can be set up to switch patches via speed control (how fast you play.)
