I really love the site and,of course, the library, but I just wish that someone could me give a definitive answer as to when a hard copy manual is to be released for delivery.I just hate having precious screen space taken up on substantial products like this by pdfs.... Confused: Confused Oh,what about a situations vacant section? You know the kind of thing:John Williams soundalike wanted for my new car advert..... [Wink]

Maybe I'm doing something wrong... but I've never really managed to conduct an efficient search on the forum.
This time I'm looking into it in more detail and it still doesn't work for me.
When I select an explicit forum (ex EXS24 MK II) in my search 'options' I get loads of results from the main VSL forum. And in all honestly I rarely get results which match my search word(s).
I tested this on my Explorer & my safari, same thing.

Could someone enlighten me on what I'm doing wrong. Or just check that this function is reliably operationnal?

Thanx Smile

no charl, there's been nothing you did wrong - i'd assume, at least Wink
searching just within a certain forum never worked but since i'm not a big wizz in php, i didn't want to touch anything within the forum software - maybe i should take a look at the SQL statements nevertheless.
sorry for this inconveniance -we'll have to fix it

REALLLLLYYYY need to keep old pages with either meta refresh or include when you change them , old URLs intact, machine CNAME and DNS pointing to something valid. It really sucks when i have 6 Favorites in internet explorer and not one of them worked, i had to search on google for VSL and then search through your site to find stuff, not a great way to keep return business. Stick out tongue

TRY THIS:

< META http-equiv="Refresh" content="1; URL=http://www.blablabla.com/somepage.php?bla=blahblahblah" >

pretty newbie html stuff, but broken bookmarks is even more newbie hehe

sorry for the inconveniance, i'm assuming now you talk about the old URLs beginning with 235.deatech.at ... unfortunately this server is no more within our control to place some redirects there.
the authoritative DNS records for vsl.co.at and www.vsl.co.at are valid though ... you can access the forum also directly at http://forum.vsl.co.at

I come to this website occassionally and the frames and number of scrollbars on my screen makes it nearly unbrowsable. In fact, I do not personally know anyone who thinks that this website is any good at all. Right now, for example, I have FIVE scroll bars on my screen. If this message gets long enough, there will be six. Now, I know that this is only a 15" monitor running at 800 x 600, but my eyesight is not as good as it once was and so I do not want to increase the resolution, and I do not want to take my 21" monitors from my DAW and use them for my internet machine either. And most other sites on the net are perfectly acceptable on this system anyone. The problem with THIS site are some bad design decisions.

Thank you for your attention!

hello guest.

since this site was optimized for 1024/800 pixel, we know, that on 15" screen there are some scrollbars (think maximum is 3). if you like to browse the forum without the scrolling layer you can use http://forum.vsl.co.at

Only the first page (http://www.vsl.co.at/english/pages/forum/start/forum.htm) has visual problem with Opera 7.50 web browser. Rest of it is ok.

The site is still very crappy. The forum works ok (but no search); the rest is pretty awful in my netscape browser. THe repeated logons lead nowhere.

gugliel, i hate to say so, but from somewhen beginning next year we can generally not longer take special care on netscape (especially some 4.x versions) - it is less than 0.1% (or less than 3000 pageviews) and about 30% more programming.
i feel safari, opera, firebird (or any mozilla) are really interesting alternatives.
christian

ps: any logon problem in the user area is almost everytime related to not allowing http-cookies (non permanent browser cookies), be it because of browser-settings, a too restrictive firewall or even antivirus-programs

I've just a suggestion,

I would love to habe a links-section, where al the (registered) VSL users can add a link to soungs they produced with VSL, without directly putting it on the website. You sould be able to add a comment and a title to every song you insert but you sould maybe just link to an *.mp3 song, not to a website - mybe both. I'm really curious about other users and their songs. Maybe you think about it.

Yanco, there is already such a things, the Orchestration - Composition - Instruments Forum. Just go to the forum start page it's near the bottom. Many demos by users are posted there, as well as a ton of user demos can also be found in the demo section of the website.

Thierry, you can find a good panning guide in the VSL manual (at least there is one in Opus 1 manual, so I guess there is also in the other symphonic packages), as well as there are quite a few threads about it plus other techniques like those you are looking for in the Mixing and Postpro Discussions.

Would it be possible to add a page to the site with a chronological list of VSL demos. That way it would be easy to see when new user demos come out.

With the current system, it's very hard to see what's new and what has been around already for a while.
