  • Vienna Special Edition?

    Hi

I just got the latest 2007 catalog, and it lists a new Vienna Special Edition library, but I can't see anything on the website. Any news on this?

Also I saw there is a Special Keyboards too (nice, I was hoping that a Harpsichord library would be released).

  • Yeah the new catalog [as usual] gets me itchy and drooling, particularly this Special Edition? [[:|]]

  • This Special Edition brings together the complete orchestra –
and more – in an affordable Collection. It is the ideal, resourcesaving
companion for orchestral arrangements on the laptop,
or for newcomers to the world of Vienna Instruments, offering
a useful cross-section of the Vienna Symphonic Library’s
    complete 1.5 million sample archive.

The Standard Library includes 32 instruments and
ensembles, covering large post-romantic instrumentation. It
contains solo and ensemble strings, solo instruments and
ensembles of the brass section, woodwinds ranging from
piccolo flute to contra bassoon, harp, drums and percussion
as well as celesta and the Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano.
The Extended Library doesn’t offer more articulations to
the Standard Library instruments; rather, it contains 40
additional instruments which enhance the symphonic variety
of this Collection (e.g., basset horn, contrabass trombone,
saxophones, our famous Chamber Strings and Epic Horns).
It also adds instruments like the Vienna Konzerthaus Organ,
a harpsichord, acoustic and electric guitar, and many more.
Apart from the basic articulations, all string and wind
instruments include the Legato Performances characteristics
of the Vienna Symphonic Library: real note transitions up to
a one octave range are played automatically by the algorithms
of Vienna Instruments when the user plays legato notes.
As a special bonus, we have even included staccatos and
sustains performed by the large string ensembles of the
    Appassionata Strings.

The Vienna Special Edition is a comprehensive and extremely
versatile Collection that can be used efficiently with
reasonable hard disk and memory requirements, making the
Vienna Instruments’ famous realism easy to grasp and use.
It’s the quintessence of the Vienna Symphonic Library in a
    single, affordable software package!
Registered users of Opus 1 and of Orchestral Cubes or
Performance Sets of the FIRST/PRO EDITION enjoy massive
upgrade discounts towards the Full Library of the Vienna

  • Sounds very cool, will there be an upgrade path from Opus1+2?

    Last 3 lines.. [:P]

  • Yes, I saw them, but I don't understand. The Full Vienna to me sounds the full 10K Library. What is meant with Full Library of the Vienna?

  • And, any numbers out there already?

  • All we have to go on is this pdf:

  • I see, the last two words got lost. It should read the Full Library of the Vienna
Special Edition. That makes more sense.

That's a bit ambigous - are there any discounts on the Standard and Full Library respectively for registered users of Opus 1+2 but not FIRST/PRO EDITION?
Will it be possible for a registered user of Opus 1+2 to move to the VI platform without paying at least the original price once again?

  • don't wan to reveal too much, but be assured: *opus only* users will be enjoyed too.

  • Mmm .. I like the sound of this library. I soo want the entire Cube but ... well you know the problem [:P] ... So an Opus like version of the Nw Cube .. sounds damned good to me.

I hope my First Edition and Epic Horns give me a good discount towards it, but in anycase I'm gonna go look at this.

Unless I win the lottery and then I'll buy the Cube [:D]

How about MIR though .. when can we see that .. Pleeeeeaaaseeeeee!!!!!

  • By the way, anybody noticed that suddenly the French oboe is the standard oboe... ? [[;)]]

    Christian,

when will this be released (Frankfurt time?).

I have many of the Horizon series (Opus1&2, Vienna Harps, FX Percussion, Concert Guitar, Overdrive, Glass & Stones etc), so I'm quite keen to see what discount I'll be able to get.

Also, with the inclusion of the Bosendorfer, Konzerthaus Organ and Harpsichord, would I be able to upgrade with discount to the full libraries (from Special Edition)?

Is there anything you can say on the resources required to run the VSE (ie would I be able to able to run it within logic on my Macbook Pro?).

As you can tell, like Hetoreyn, I'm very excited about this product as a way into the Vienna Instruments.

  • sounds very cool. Cant wait to see/hear more!

  • Looks very interesting.

I would love to see 'extra' consideration given to those (like me of course) who have purchased the Solo and Chamber strings, Fr oboe, as well as the First ed. cube.

With the discount operating the same way as the other VI's (standard price is the same, Full collection gets discount) I am wondering if this package is actually meant for those of us who already have gotten numerous individual horizon packages.

I mean, what I would be getting is the VI player but not much more (with my collection of libraries, that is). Pretty expensive player.

    Christian,

Without revealing too much [;)], can you explain what was removed in VSE intruments compared to the VI's? Release samples, dyn layers, chrom. samples etc?

    Danke sehr!

    Chris,

will VSE adopt the VI GUI?

  • details will be published soon - i don't have a clue [;)]
like all vienna instruments also the special edition will use the vienna instruments player and take the advantages of the GUI

  • This sounds very interesting.. especially the breadth of instruments included like the chamber sections and saxophones. Very nice!

But... for the love of the stave... let there be a discount on the standard version for opus users...
