  • VSL-Audio Instrument for Logic 7

I've just installed Appassionata Strings on my new Macbook and I was wondering if it is possible to use it as an Audio Instrument in Logic Express 7.0? If so, what do I need to do?

    Thanks,

    Tony

  • I have logic pro, but it should be the same:

Simply select AU Instruments > VSL in the "input" part of your channel strip in the mixer window (just like if you were to load the exs into there, but instead of picking logic you would pick audio units)

    I hope this helps.

  • I've tried to go to input and then Audio Instruments but, there is no option for VSL. The only options are the Garage Band instruments. Somehow, Logic can't find my appassionata strings. Do I need to move any folders? Do you have any other suggestions on how I get Appassionata Strings into Logic?

    thanks,
    Tony

  • I have a very similar problem.

Using Logic Pro 7.0 the AU instrument VSL is nowhere to be found. As a standalone it works perfectly fine.
Installed it today on am MAcbook Pro Intel, OS X 10.4.9. I had this one installed before the library arrived today... [:(]

    Any idea?

  • I think Logic needs to do a scan to recognise the VI - see the thread:
    http://community.vsl.co.at/viewtopic.php?t=10553&iframe=true

  • I did - no success.
In the folder HD/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ is the file Viennainstrumentsc.component. The same goes with VST.
VSL don't show up in teh AU-Manager list at all. Tried re-install [:(]
    Nothing...

  • Logic 7.0 is not Intel native - - so things will not work properly on an Intel Mac such as the MacBook Pro. You need to purchase the $49.95 upgrade to Logic 7.2.3.

  • Lol...
    I thought so...
For this upgrade I have to wait 3 to four weeks according to apple - and pay the price...I think my head just bursts....

    I have a G5 powermac but VI needs OS X 10.4 and I have 10.3.9...
    What do I do now...?...

    Many THX!

  • Not that this will help you, but just so you know: Apple stopped selling the upgrade to Intel (49 USD) about three weeks ago. Most took this as a sign that a significant Logic premiere would follow. When, no one knows.

I'm misunderstanding something here. If they meant you need to buy the entire package again, *don't.* Wait for whatever new release might premiere. And if they meant the 49 dollar upgrade will become available again in three weeks, well, that wouldn't make any sense.

Leopard has been pushed back to late Summer, early Fall. Perhaps it's best to buy Tiger for the summer. Sorry for your timing. I once bought a 3,500 dollar PC about twenty days before Logic went totally Mac.

  • Now that would be something...
Unfortunately - I ordered the 7.2 crossgrade this afternoon [:(]
    I would laugh - seriously....
