  • Appassionata strings and Logic

I have Appassionata strings running on Logic 7.3.2. I have successfully assigned patches on 8 horizontal cells which plays a violin midi track in Apple Logic with the appropriate keyswitches.

I have a 2nd midi track recorded in Logic for the Viola.
How do I set up Appassionata Strings/Vienna Instruments to acknowledge the second track as well as other tracks?

    Thanks Vanessa

  • Hello Vanessa,

You will want to instantiate another Vienna Instrument AU audio instrument in the Arrange Page channel strip of the second instrument track. Add the viola articulations you want to hear and you should be just fine.

Each instance of the Vienna Instument only recognizes a single MIDI channel dedicated to it. It is not polyphonic. Fortunately since the Vienna Instrument uses relatively little computer resources you will probably be able to use about 20 or so of them in a Logic song. That is somewhat dependent on how much RAM you have in your computer.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Jack
