  • Long time successful user - suddenly the libraries are lost!

Hi there, I'm still having the same problem I posted about in another thread which I now can't find! Sorry...

Miraculously, some of the libraries have reappeared.

To be clear; all the licences show up correctly, all the libraries are installed - they *were* working fine, now however some of them are not loading. I re-did the directory manager, - no luck. In cubase the VI doesn't even show up at all as a plug in despite numerous reinstalls and running diagnostics of all kinds like disk warrior, tech tool pro etc. In Logic it loads the plug in but as I said, lots of libraries are missing. I am running a dual 2.0 G5 with OS 10.4.9 5.5Gb RAM and I don't know what could have gone wrong?

    Can anyone help out please?

    Miklos.

  • Hi mpower88,

sounds weird. At the moment I have no idea what might be wrong on your setup.

What did you change and when exactly did these problems occur?
Can you send me a screenshot of such an error message and possibly also a screenshot of your Vienna Instruments GUI? I´ll look into it then and I am sure we can find a solution.

Please find my contact information in a PM.

    Best regards,

  • I googled a bit and found that (among numerous others)

Waves has just posted a news on their website to inform Mac users that OS 10.4.9 is not supported and causes Waves plug-ins to malfunction...

So if you are in this case, do not install Mac OS 10.4.9 until further notice.

    ------

iMac G5/1.9 (iSight), 1.5Gb RAM. Since the 10.4.9 (Combo) update, if I leave the iMac with Safari running (either visible or hidden), I come back to a locked up machine. The screen is dark, the light is on (steady, not pulsing), and it can't be woken from sleep (if indeed that is the state it's in) by mouse clicks or keyboard presses, my only option is to perform a forced shutdown. I have disconnected all peripherals, reinstalled the Combo update and done an Archive&Install, but no change. Has anyone else experienced this, and maybe found a cure or workaround?

    ---------

My suggestion is: Stay away from 10.4.9

BTW, was there a specific NEED for this update. I would disable automatic update prompt. Too easily a click happens ....

    Thanks

  • I believe they have fixed that waves issue and posted another message saying that it now works.

    Miklos.

  • Miklos,

This may not help you but just to advise to check what else you have connected to yur USB ports. The other day I had left an iPod charging on one of my USB ports and everytime I tried to open a VI in Logic it completely crashed the system. It took me a few restarts before I realised that VI just didn't like having the iPod present on the USB buss.

  • nope - nothing new but thanks anyway.
