  • Update on LAA Support and 3Go Switch?

    Hi there,

I'm just about to buy a new computer to run the SE on it and I read the thread on getting more than 2Go of RAM for the VI.

However it's about 6 months old and I'm wondering if any of you know if it will work with different hosts.

I'm using Kore right now and I like it a lot. I couldn't find the info on their website about the LAA compliant or not.

I'd like to get 4Go of RAM with my new computer but I don't want to do it if it's worthless.

Do you have any updated info on the subject?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Haven't tried Kore, but I can verify that Plogue Bidule and Cakewalk Sonar both work well when patched with the LaaTiDo app. I can get about 3.2GB RAM loaded.

What's even better is that if you use WinXP 64bit, you can bump that up to 3.7GB of RAM loaded. The only incompatibility that I've found with XP 64 is Altiverb.

It actually works fine until you Patch one of your hosts with LaaTiDo. Then it hard-crashes your comp. every time.

  • Thanks for the info magnum.

So what do I need to do exactly on my machine to make this happen?

There's a lot of different directions on the sticky thread about the subject and I'm confused!

    Thanks again!

  • which direction, xp or xp 64bit?

  • Well right now I have a Windows XP version not 64 so I'd rather not buy an extra licence for now. I'll wait for the VI to be ready for Vista and properly tested.

As I said I'm going to buy a new computer and I'll buy 4Go of Ram if I can use them with Kore and the VI.

So I'd like to know if there's an easy way (tutorial?) to give access at my upcoming new XP machine to more than 1.5Go of Ram (which I currently have on my PC).

    Thanks again!

  • Just follow the sticky on "Memory Config and VI" under the section:
"I have more than 2 GB RAM, how can I use more of it for VI?"

That's what I did. Just note, if you are copying the text verbatim for the boot.ini file, the number in Matthias' post next to partition is (2). If you only have 1 partition, make it (1).

4GB works well with those instructions.

  • Oh, one more thing, don't do the last step where you use editbin to make the .exe LAA.

use the LaaTiDo app which is linked to later on in the post.

    It's much easier!

  • Ok cool!

Thanks you so much for your help.

I guess I just need to make the order now [:)]
