  • Strings for...... disco !

    Hello

I'm brand new in this forum and with VSL.
I'm dying to put some realistic strings for my music and want to buy a package of VSL.
But wich one should i choose for strings like disco strings ? I know this software is mostly used for classical music, but i'm defenetly sure it can be as good for different music as well.

Your help would be greatfull, as i don't know wich one of the pack i must take : orchestral strings 1 ? 2 ? Maybe appassionata ?

    thanx for your help [:D]

  • I'd suggest vienna special edition.

  • Unless you're doing Barry White, I think you probably want small sections for disco - the Chamber Strings.

Smart Violins, a collection of disco licks (bends, runs, etc.) would make a great add-on.

  • Thank you both for your answer, both answer are different [:)]

I would like actually some strings like the Jamiroquai - Runaway or Cosmic Girl songs, for you to get an idea where i wanna go.

I'm not very sure if they are 14 players or 5 or 6...

    Any word ? [:D]

I did listen to the two Jamiroquai songs.

I think it is an Oberheim synth, and an ELKA Rhapsody keyboard.

    .

  • I think Sebastien doesn't mean the synths, there ARE real strings in Jamiroquai songs. I think they are rather small string sections.

    Justus

  • Atmoshpere has some cool presets that might work (it's not VSL) but has some synth strings that kind of have a real sound and would work for disco.

Absolutly real strings, i never put strings in my track as i defently hate when it doesn't sound natural, you can still make some good/ok arrangement with synthetizer, but it will still sound fake in the end of the day. Thats why my choice goes to VSL as its by far the best result i ever heard (if well done)

  • The String runs in Orch 1+II are perfect for disco (as well as all the other articulations.) I don't know if there are runs in the chamber collection or not.

  • 2x for Smart Violins and Chamber Strings.

In fact I was just thinking how well those disco licks would work if REX'd so I could use them in Stylus.

Sure, but that's one lick. If you check out the SV demos you'll see what Clark and I are talking about.
