  • Logic Pro and RAM

    Hello friends,

I have few questions about logic pro:

    1) Is it a 64 bit application
    2) Can I run Vienna Ins. on it using more then 4 GB RAM?
    3) If yes - how? By running several VIs or on one VI?

Thank you in advance for your answer

  • 1. Not yet
    2. No

  • This is not intended to be obnoxious self-promotion, but if you go to www.VirtualInstrumentsMag.com - download the free sample issue, and read "7GB on One Mac," there's a good way to access more RAM on a G5 - and while I haven't tried, I assume a Mac Pro as well.

  • Nick,
I tried your link but it didn't work.

  • Is there a total limitation of 4 GB RAM or is it a limitation for each programm, meaning that, if I have 8 GB RAM in my mac, I can use 4 GB for Logic and 4 GB for VI?

Did anyone hear about Rax? I remember something about this program, beeing able to adress aditional RAM.

  • Felix,
Nick was referring to the DEC/JAN VI Mag for accesing 7 gigs of RAM on a MAC ... click on the link in his post. The short answer is that you can access RAM using VI as a stand alone outside of Logic.

  • Rax is no longer for sale. See:

  • Yeah, the link is definitely good, Richard. Click on it and then on Download a Free Issue on the left.

  • Hello,

finaly I decided not to buy Mac.

My new choice is Dell Precission 490, Intel Xeon 5160 (3 GHz, 4 MB) with 4 GB Ram. When the time comes I can increase RAM and buy another processor - my opinion is thet one xeon is ok.
Till this time I was working on two Pentium 4 2,8 GHz and with some victims it was working quite good. I expect that mostly I will work on one xeon pc now but some time I will use my old one if I will need large scores.
I have good expirience with dell - the service is really quick. My friend had Mac and he was waiting for repair more then month!
