  • Symphonic Wind Orchestra piece

    Hi all!

Here is my first work with VIs.
It's an original composition first performed in 2004. I had no reccording and so I wanted to find out if it's possible to do it with Vienna. A try with the Pro Ed last year failed because of the repetitions [:O]ops:

    5 minutes / 6.8 megs

    Used:
    Woodwinds I and II
    Brass I and II
    Sax
    (standard and extended)
The percussions are Pro Ed except for the drumset (Pure Drums)
Produced with Logic on a G5

I'd be glad to get some hints on how to improve the mastering and everything else.

    Best Regards

  • Very nice composition, reminds me some JW stuff from th 80' (Olympics).

My only complain is if the brass are great, the woods are only decorative, almost absent.

To me the sound is ok: don't bother with sound engineer problems, some people spend their entire life (and money) trying to make a few seconds of music sounding at their best instead of composing hours of music.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi sicmu.

    Thanks for the reply.

You're right about the woodwind section, it's too weak in the final mix. But even if I put it up a little I've got too much loss in the brass section and percussion section.
That's why I hoped fo a hint - to improve the mix. You never stop learning you know [:D] and I am at a point where I'm stuck a little. The MIR project won't be an easy solution I think...

    Best Regards!
