  • Interesting, bell sounds need no alt samples?

This is a very strange phenomena. You can't get a machine gun effect with the triangle or tubular bells. Can anyone explain this to me?

  • My guess is that those instruments use the 'round robin' sampling technique, which alternates between two or more samples when a note is repeated and thus avoids the so-called machine gun effect.

  • I encountered this phenomena myself. I think it's because in reality each hit on these high tuned instruments sounds very similar to the last one. The only variation in tone is different velocities, which vsl provides.

    Just my guess.

  • Lol, I had a feeling this thread wouldn't be taken seriously. [:D]

I guess it has so I will continue the discussion by saying the samples im working with have no velocity layers.

But that's because I don't have my VSL SE... !YET!

  • Elan, I'm slightly confused - are the 'samples you're working with' VSL or not?

  • VSL samples come with Kontakt as a little 7GB bundle.

  • Thanks for clarifying. Have fun with SE!
