  • Moving to a new computer

I am trying to get Viennal Instrument set up on a new computer, after running it on my old one since Februrary.

I copyied all my Viennal files to my new computer. Installed my Vienna Key and tried to load an instrument and got the following error: PLEASE USE DIRECTORY MANAGER TO SET NEW CUSTOM DATA FOLDER AND RESTART THE APPLICATION.

On my old computer, Directory Manager shows up under program files, but not in the folder itself. How do I copy that over?

I have no directory manager in either Viennal folder so how do I proceed. I also noticed that my key now shows 179 starts left. I am registered, but on a different computer. How do I get everything to work on my new one?

I cannot run a new install, since I am already registered.

  • win or mac?
    - you have installed the latest syncrosoft license control center
    - you have installed the latest Vienna Instruments Software
    - win: START - Applications - Vienna Instruments - Directory Manager
    - mac: finder - applications - Directory manager
    - in the directory manager set thge location for a custom data folder
    - make sure the location has read&write permission
    - add the locations of sample data to the DM using drag&drop from a finder or explorer window
    - do not have launched a VI before ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks for the reply.

My problem is that I do not have a DIRECTORY MANAGER with which to work. My question is how do I get that over to my new computer.

It is a PC with Window XP Home edition.

  • Hi Brian - the Directory Manager also goes by the name 'ScanTool.exe'.

  • The scan tool has me almost there. I can now open the VST and I can see my Strings. I cannot open them, I believe because on the left side of the screen it says: No licenses are installed.

I have my Vienna Key installed, and the system recognizes it. I ran Syncrosoft License Control Center, but it want an activation code. I cannot get one, because I am already registered.

I must still be missing something.
