Does it make sense to purchase the Pro Edition for use with Kontakt 2?

I guess it boils down to the question whether scripts are available for the instruments, like they are for Opus, or am I missing something?

HI soundbutcher,

we never converted the Pro Edition for Kontakt, as this is a very big task (we learned that the hard way with the conversion of the Horizon Series).

The Pro Edition works with EXS24mkII and GigaStudio exclusively.

Best,

I understand your reply as "No, it doesn't make sense to purchase the Pro Edition for use with Kontakt 2." Thanks, I guess.

Actually it does make sense if you're willing to put in the effort to translate it and fix some of the translation issue you will have translating it from giga to K2. But you will also have to buy something like Solos violins for Kontack and use the script from the solo string for the pro content. It would be also good if you had access to WW ensemble and Opus 1 & 2 for the script as well . I have all those script and there are very few things i cant do in K2 that i can in giga, So few that's it's not worth mentioning.. and even then there are solutions..

The advantages to do this is to have the performance tool incorporated within the instruments Cool ,but most of all it's ram usage. I can load so much more in K2 than i did in giga it's kind of ridiculous. At least 4x more.. On PC that is because i don't think you can tweak the memory preload buffer size on a Mac, which is what you need do to load more in K2. That's done in the DFD options.

But you need to understand it's going to be A LOT OF WORK and you wont be making music for a while, but it can be done, much to me surprise.

P.S. There are other benefit like K2 is VSTi and you have all these script available that are so cool. But if you're really busy i recommend to go for the more elegant solution that is VI. I myself have no regret translating it.

Also i did this on K2.2

Thanks for the heads-up. I do own Opus 1 + 2, where some instruments come with a password-protected script named "Legato KSW". Do I understand correctly that I would need other such password-protected scripts in addition to that, and I would need to buy the Solo Strings for the sole purpose of being allowed to download those scripts from the VSL web site?

Oh dear.

You don't need the password, all you need to do is to save the preset. The solo strings is important because it will give you the script for the repetitions. But you do not have to pay full price for the solo strings has there is a big chunk in the COP already. See the discount calculator. The solo strings is a great library BTW.

You know, I'm pretty sure you would do OK with the the script of Opus 1 & 2
and the solo violins from a script point of you.

Man i hat to say but it would be kind of silly not to get Epic Horn at this price. This library is amazing. In fact may be they cover the repetitions and you wouldn't need to by the solo strings. I'm pretty sure you would be OK with that combination and it would cost less. Worse case scenario I'm sure you will find a solution even without buying the solo strings. But get at least
something like Epic Horns to cover the repetitions.

Good luck!

I forgot to say that you get a huge discount because you own Opus 1 & 2 so don't forget to mention it.

Big Smile The funny thing is it took about 30 seconds to get that one... I'm not really myself today... And you've told me that a few time already. [Wink]

Not sure what you meant by this: SCNR

Most certainly not Smile  And at a discounted price of 1474.-- Euro for the complete library, that was too tempting an opportunity to let it pass. Thanks for the encouragement, I think I probably won't regret the purchase Party!!!
