  • Special Edition Question - Another Question

In the midi files that accompany the video demo by Christian, I see a good bit of "Mono Touch" control data.  What is being controlled here?  I understood that he was using:

    1. breath controller for cross fade;

    2. a little expression for fading long notes

    3. Mod wheel (CC1) for changing articulations.

Is this standard keyboard vibrato cc messages?

Also, the DP 5.1 file will not open in my DP 5.11 program, which is greyed out as an option.  It shows up as a "UNIX executable".  Not sure what is going on here.

Do the DP and Logic files have all of the mixing detail shown on the demo video 2? -- panning and reverb send percentages?

Excellent composition and insight into the use of your products.  Thanks!!!

  • Hi aplanchard, Thank you for your kind words. The "MonoTouch" data is not used. Thats simply the aftertouch message my masterkeyboard (Yamaha S80) is sending all the time. I totally forgot that and therefore also forgot to delete it. I tried to mix the piece in a way so that it sounds the same with all the different Sequenzer, which was quite challenging, because I only used the built in Reverbs an d EQ´s. (for compatibility reason) Strangely we didn´t find out which suffix is normally added to DP files. Also here on machines where no DP is installed the fileformat is the one you described. Normaly adding the speciffic extension to the songname (e.g. ".lso" for Logic) helps to reassigne to file to the program. You could also try "Option I" for file Information and select DP 5.11 as the program that should open this file. I hope anything from above helps. If not I could send you the DP file alone zipped in a PM. best christian K

  • sorry for the unstructured text. but the carriage return function seems not to work at the moment when posting a reply from Safari :-( chris K

  • Hi Christian,

Thanks for the reply.  Now that you mention it, I think the renaming of the file to the appropriate extension will do the trick.  If not, I might take you up on that offer to send me the file [:D]

The more Iisten to your piece, the more I like it.  Very clever string writing (esp. the viola and 2nd violins parts); beautiful melody, and the orchestration is both tasteful and effective.  Great job!

    Hi Christian,

I discovered that the extension for a DP file is .perf and added that to the file name. DP attempted to open it, but unfortunately I received an error message indicating that the file was created in a later version of DP. I am running DP 5.11. Did you save the file in DP 5.12? If so, I will update and give that a try. If not, may I take you up on your offer to send me the DP project at aplanchard@msn.com in a zip file? Thanks.

p.s., I tried to pm you via the message board but it did not seem to work, but if you received several messages as a result of my failed attempts, at least you know the cause [:|]

  • Hi aplanchard, Your privat messages came through. I sent you a pm. best chrisK

  •  Hi Christian,

I'm in the same boat.  Could you also send me the file at ozoufonoun at hotmail dot com?  Much thanks.

    Omid

  •  never mind.  Adding the extension seems to have worked now.

    Thanks

  • I spoke too soon.  The project opens fine, but then it tells me that the following files are missing...listing a bunch of frozen tracks.

The project is open but none of the actual VI inserts are actually loaded with instruments.  As a matter of fact, VI interface is not loading.  Weird.
