  • Vienna Instruments 2 Special Edition Extended Question

I'm interested in the VI Special Edition Extended Library but I wondered If the regular Special Edition came with it, or if it has to be purchased separately. The cost for the Extended Library on Sweetwater is 565.97 and I need to know if that includes the original Special Edition, or if I have to pay an additional 423.97 for it. There is a note at Sweetwater on the Extended version saying "You must be a registered owner of Vienna Instruments 2 Special Edition to use this Product."

    Thanks

  •  Hello and welcome Andoran [:)],

Yes, you need the "Standard Library" of the Special Edition first (list price: 445$), and you extend it anytime with the "Extended Library" (list price: 595$).

To answer your question: The Extended Library does not include the Standard Library, it is additional content, and you can upgrade anytime!

  • Hello hello,

I just found the first thread on "standard" and "extended" editions. I'm very keen to start with with Vienna and am wondering what the real difference is between standard and extended. is it just the amount of samples? or is there a difference in sound quality? less articulations...?

If you consider this a stupid question, I have only been aware of this product for like a week....[:S].

Basically, I want to know if its worth starting on standard and sticking with that for a while, or will I just end up frustrated?

    Thanks

    Gabriel

  • You can see the content here - go to: products/special packages /special edition then click on 'standard / extended'

  • The Extended library contains more instruments .. and more articulations than the Standard library. The Standard library is still a very big and good library but with the extended libr. you get some very nice extras. Check out the Special Ed. Articulation list to see what you get.

  • The EXtended library is more than worth it. You get some Epic Horns, Saxes, Guitars, Appassionata Strings, and more. I really like how VSL gives you a month to try out the extended library instruments with that temp license. It's a brilliant idea that more developers should embrace. After all, $600 ain't pocket change for me so it was good to really put the samples through their paces to see if in fact I would use them. Well those bloody saxophones were the main reason why I splurged. Now I read that we can subscribe to get additional articulations. What another great idea! I think I'll subscribe since the repetitions are too good to pass up.
