  • Will VSL have legato strings with more vibrato in Pro Ed??

I love the VSL leg strings for some things as they are, but they are definatlely a bit restrained on the vibrato. Will there be more expressive legato samples in the PRO edition or beyond??

    Thanks,

    Colin

  • Wile I don't expect to see this in time for the pro edition I, too, would love to see strings with MORE vibrato but also strings with NO vibrato. I have run into situations where I would have loved to have both those things. I love what we have so far though!

  • I think the same. i posted a thread about "shivering, sparkling strings" a few weeks ago - but didn't get any answer yet.

It would be very nice to have these styles of playing!

  • In the Pro Edition there will be non vibrato patches.

Vibrato intenstity is a question of dynamics (molto vibrato in pp is a contradiction), of course a matter of taste, and, most important, it depends on the section size of the ensemble.

The more players you have the more the vibrato seems to disappear. So a useful molto vibrato patch would work best with smaller section sizes. (we are scheduling the recording plan for the small string ensembles in the moment).

  • Once the pro edition shows up with the solo violin, thats what I'll use from VSL to make more vibrato. Herbs right that the more players, the less vib, but its also a bit on recording techniques too. Closer mics on one of the principle players mixed in would have resulted in more vibrato, but obviously would have been "close mic'd"

Anyway, I think to get more vibrato, the solo violin (and transposed/retuned variations) will help alot. It will also add variation in legato performances [:)]

  • These additions are going to be great! I know you folks have your hands full, but what's the time line on sordinos?

  • Oh, the sordino stuff is done.
Sustains, staccati, detaches, tremols, pizz, trills, dynamics, perf-legato, perf-repetitions.

We'll prepare an detailed overview, which samples you will get with the PRO.
