OK everybody - I called up the guys at TEAC this afternoon and a sales rep told me that Gigastudio 3 will not be released until the end of AUGUST!

[Indifferent]

What a nuisance.

I'm afraid not. Not unless the salesman who I spoke to on the phone this morning was lying.

And is anyone surprised?

With their track record I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the august date as well.

If this is true that it's not coming till the end of August I will sincerely doubt using Tascam's software in the future. They have a newsletter with VSL's stuff included saying end of July. It's like they are lying month after month. You have to wonder what's holding it back. The reason before was grabbing all of the free libraries by having the contracts finished. I don't know what it could be now. I'm very dissapointed. Anybody please say this isn't so! Sad

Maybe now they have to find the greatest art designer in the world for the cover of the package and make him/her sign the contract.
..... and in september, they'll very likely have to look for the best pressing plant for the dvd burning....
..... and in......
But do not worry, Tascam do all this for your own good, don't they ? Surpriseops:

According to Synthetic (see other thread) and what I see, that is inaccurate.

As I have already said, according to what I can understand, (no voices, I don't know anybody at Tascam), just what has been written in this forum, I was thinking September as the real month.
But I hope Dave is right.

rushed out system.

Developing something like this needs a lot of time and a lot of resources.

I understand it is frustrating for a lot of potential users, but make music with your GS 2.5 (yes, it works Wink!) and btw he, it's summertime! Even if it takes some more time-go to the beach, watch the girls and it will eventually come (2004), hopefully!
Cool

It's precisely to avoid the nervous exhaustion due to the contemplation of out-of-reach beauties on the beach that most of us would need to get GS3 now.
If Tascam had been a little more on schedule, we would be in the pure shelter of our studios, living a spiritual discovery of the software. Instead we must endure sun and all this nude tantalizing flesh !

Is it the nature of musicians being frustrated human beings?

I am right. It will most certainly not be freakin September.

Every single large release I have seen has been shown off at NAMM with hopes of releasing April or May but it has always been a summer release.

Cheers

You'ed think that by now all of us would be used to this.
Just about every piece of software I use is released later than they say. You think Giga is slow, try MOTU or NI - they're all slow. Even Logic can't seem to get Waveburner Pro out for OSX.
Just keep making music and forget about it. It's not worth the sweat.

Guys-
Calm down... I just ordered Gigastudio 3 from Tascam sales. They said they just started taking pre-orders yesterday. Big Smile So, I placed an order, and will have it at the end of next week. They assured me that it will positively get to me next week. So stop arguing about it and place an order if you want it so bad! Smile

Hmmm, interesting reading Julie,

I tried to purchase a copy of 2.5 in the UK about six weeks ago. Supplier took my money, Tascam UK took my order then..... nothing.

Eventually both my supplier and I managed to get a reply from Tascam, saying yes they had my order, had put it down as a pre-order for GS3 (six weeks ago remember) and no, I couldn't have a copy of 2.5 because there weren't any available any longer - so I'd just have to wait.

A quite ridiculous state of affairs when we'd just spent in excess of £10k on hardware to run two extra GS systems, and they're now sitting idle just because Tascam won't provide anything at all.

What's worse is they won't even to commit to which version of GS3 we'll eventually receive when they do ship. So they're happy to take money off customers and suppliers, and expect us just to shut up and live with it.

Not clever. I agree with the post that 2.5 works perfectly well in the interim period, but it's not much use when you need more voices and power now with a deadline looming...... Super Angry

The histeria is extraordinary!

This from TrueSpec

SAVE $50 ON GIGA 3.0
Giga 3.0 is shipping in the next few weeks (we just got the written notice from Tascam). If you DON'T own GigaStudio today, order it now at $399 and upgrade for only $50. But hurry, time is limited on this offer:
http://www.truespec.com/store/softw...m/giga160.shtml

This from Synthetic the mouthpiece for TASCAM on the Northern Sounds Forum

Nothing has changed. It will ship end of July, first week of August at the latest.

AHHH HE SAID AUGUST! I TOLD YOU! THE SKY IS FALLING! I heard August 3rd somewhere, so maybe we'll miss by a few days. What can I say.

We haven't posted the list of included libraries because it keeps growing every day. The list is delayed but you get more free content. Not so bad, eh?

I don't think that is the case unless there was some sort of delay getting things overseas or something. Unless it takes 2 months to create disks, I think it will be much sooner than that.

Cheers
