Will there be support for using the Symphonic Editions with kontakt+performance tool in the future?

GS3 is driving me completely crazy.

Same thing here - I really would prefer to have a native version of my First Edition for Kontakt. I'm also using GS3 right now, but I really prefer the smooth VST integration Kontakt offers. As far as I know, there are no plans for native kontakt/halion versions for the symphonic series... Crying

Kind regards,
Seb

Hi,

sorry to say, we are not planning to adapt our Symphonic Editions for HALion or Kontakt in the nearer future.

Best wishes, Paul

Thanks for the info.

It's really too bad though... plenty people would buy the Symphonic Editions if it weren't for the fact that it's limited in sampler support.

In fact, a quite common reaction to me using GS3 just for the orchestral samples is one of surprise. Surprise over the fact that I go through all this trouble learning and setting up GS (running multiple softsamplers isn't something my computer enjoys doing by the way, but I don't really have a choice) when it's so much easier and more efficient to just use my regular sampler with other orchestral samples.

I've been trying to get going with one of the Symphonic Editions myself, but the Gigastudio requirement has put me off so far. I've got a top of the line Mac, and Kontakt, and since I run Cubase SX on the Mac instead of Logic the EXS24 version is of no use to me. I was actually going to convert my old Windows PC into a Gigastudio 3 platform to host VSL, but while waiting for GS3 to be released, the PC died (i.e. to the extent it isn't worth repairing), so now I'm back to square one.

Suffice to say that a Kontakt version would greatly hasten the opening of my wallet.

Actually the GVA from fx-max.com can provide you GS as VST on PC. It's not Kontakt however.

I definitely agree, Kontakt support for the Symphonic Editions is very much needed.

I agree as well. There should be Kontakt 2 support for the Symphonic editions.
Doesn't it make sense from a marketing standpoint since there is a 7GB library of VSL samples(all appear to be from Opus1 collection BTW) included with kontakt 2?
Through the use of Kontakt2 some users will eventually want to upgrade from those included VSL samples they try to the full blown version (complete pro edition or first edition)..

I use GS3, ESX2 and KONTAKT 2.

There is no doubt in my mind that Kontakt 2 is the best. Especially for stability.

A further enhancement of Mac OSX functions is needed however. (NI is working on it)

PRO EDITION KONTAKT is without a doubt, absolutely necessary.

So why is Vienna refusing to budge on this issue?

I would think it could be done fairly quickly.

It was never said it would be availible - so I don't understand your reaction? Do you also want your money back from BMW because they never announced a car that is going 900 mph?

you´re wrong,
The VSL Team allways said to me,
that the Pro samples would be continuously updated to all new formats and samplers

Spetially the Perf Tool,
which I never could used yet

I understand they only want to sell the new products
that´s how the world it goes...

not fair,

I can hardly believe they said "all" new samplers and formats. That is simply too much. I don't know what they told you in person, but there was never an official announcement saying something close to this.

All the products that are availible for Kontakt also have a Performance Tool with them that you can use with it. You can also use the Giga tool for Kontakt if you're doing the translation of First Edition or Pro Edition on your own. So again I don't understand it seems...

For reasons I dont necessarily understand or agree with, GS is regarded as more of a product for professionals and Kontakt more for hobbyists. I suspect this may be the result of being first to market with DFD. Since it is likely that the price of the symphonic editions puts them beyond most hobbyists anyway, VSL might be thinking that the expense and time of conversion would not be worthwhile. Perhaps they feel that for a professional musician who is about to spend 3k on a sample library, the additional expense of a dedicated sample PC or Mac might not be material.

Personally I moved to Kontakt from GS because it is more stable and stability is critical, all the more so from the point of view of a professional (which I'm not). So it is quite possible that GS and EX24 will, over time, be replaced by Kontakt or other sampler software as the perceived 'professional choice'.
