  • articulation Tool Presets for the strings

HI I recently ordered the strings and I went online to active the performance tool. According to the directions for the performance tool I should open one of the tool presets for articulation. I am unable to download any presets under downloads in the user area. I have fully registered the strings, and the performance tool.

Articulation is including with the strings correct? It is just the other features of the performance tool such as legato and repetition that I am not able to use because I do not have the performance set?

    Thank you
    John

  • I'm sorry to say that you can't use legato samples because your strings package doesn't contain them. The famous legato and performance files only come in the Performance Sets.

    All the best,
    PolarBear

PS: yet another one who got this problem... [*-)]

  • as I don't thoroughly understand all the elements of VSL, would there be any sense to buying the performance set by itself? Is that a playable set of samples, or are those only the bits that make all the legato playing possible? in other words, if you only had the performance set, you could swoop around with attacks and such but never actually land on a note cuz those destination samples are in other products?!

  • OK but I should still have the articulation tool - and presets for the articulation tool - since that is a feature that comes with the performance tool for just the strings alone right?
I have downloaded the performance tool and articulation is an option. However in the user area I am unable to download and tool presets for articulation. In the directions that came with the performance tool it says to open the tool preset for articulation - which I am unable to download.

    Thank you for your time.

I tried it to explain not long ago: When our whole project started, nobody could say for certain how users would adopt our new approaches like the Performance Sets. That's why we decided to make "conventional" packages of multisamples, and to add all Performance Elements in a seperate bundle.

From today's point of view, it may seem so clear that one of the unique features of our Library _is_ this very set of special samples. So many aspects of our work seem to be taken for granted nowadays, even if they were considered to be "impossible" just a few years ago. But please keep in mind: We are still a young company, with advanced products that have to find their place in a market without real predecessors. If we just had the wisdom of now three years ago ...

Future products will most certainly take this into account. But you may understand that it makes no sense to throw thousands of readily pressed DVDs into the shredder just to re-press them again with the same content, just in a different combination.

  • Dietz - wasn't complaining, am actually wondering if the performance set only functions with the traditional library, or if it could be considered a stand-alone product.

  • (No offense taken, Metrobot.)

Originally, it was meant to be _the_ expansion for the "conventional" multi-samples. AFAIK there are a few people with just the Performance Set alone (I have no access to our user data-base right now), but I'm not so convinced that this is really helpful.

    All the best,

The performance set has no looped samples, so you can't play long notes with it...!

I have downloaded the performance tool and articulation is an option. However in the user area I am unable to download and tool presets for articulation. In the directions that came with the performance tool it says to open the tool preset for articulation - which I am unable to download.

I'm not sure at all what you did. There is only one tool right now availible from VSL, and that's the performance tool. Inside this tool you can select different modes for your channels. I'm suspecting you misread one of them, "alternation" as "articulation". Actually you can use that one with your strings package. The other modes like legato are "not avail" because the samples you got don't support them.

As far as your concerns with tool presets - there is a special page for tool presets in the download section of the user area:
    http://www.vsl.co.at/english/pages/user_area/downloads/tool_presets.htm
(you may be prompted to login first). So you're saying this page is blank for you?

    Hope this helps,
    PolarBear

Edit: corrected link to the english version of the page.

  • That is correct there are no presets available for download - after I log in. [:(]
"Sorry, no files available to download for your registered products! "

    Thank you
