  • Thanks VSL on new libraries

    Herb and team,

Just a quick note to mention how incredible Chamber and Epic Horns are. Cannot imagine doing this current film without either one (happy ProEd user).

What is next to be released? Can you say?

  • Rob,

So you're saying that Epic horns are a must for film music? Now that you have it, I presume you must see an important difference with the normal horns. Is that right?

    SCNR, christian

On many cues I have used both horns (PE for underlayment - chordal - smaller scenes.) But for the melodic lead / power nothing beats Epic Horns.

As much as I like PE - these latest two are my favorites (not just behind they are 'the new girl on the block' either - they are very strong.)

Heh, I'm right with you there. Although I don't have the Chamber strings I desperatly want them. I tried a few of the demo patchs of Chamber Strings and fell in love. I also own the Epic horns and I wouldn't dream of writing any of my songs without haviing them in there somewhere .. unless it's a totally none horn piece of course.

Epic Horns are just Awesome. I first used them in my Moonsinger Heroes piece (Battle theme) and it just brought them to life. I have the Complete First edtion but don't tend to use the horns on that too much .. I really should have a better look at them.

    Epic Horns .... YAY!!!!!

    One word .. GROWL!!!!

That's the niggest nice difference. The Growls. Of course there are more than that. It's a thicker sound because tthe Epic Horns have 50% more horns in them than as used in the First and Pro-edition. (8 Players instead of 4).

Just listen to the Lady Death demo .. that should tell you all.

Perf Legato F (Fast) ... my favourite.

  • Hi all,

aaarrggghh - reading all those posts about epic horns makes me really cry tears... Imagine: I allready was 1 click away from them because of the no-brainer summer specials price... But decided not to buy them for the reason that I'm planning to move to a different city in the next time and needed the money...
    1 click...
Now I want them even more [;)]

Well - christmas' coming, right ? Hehe...

hehe ... check out my rendition of the 'Bond' theme .. uses the epic horns quite a bit, as well as the triple horn which I'm quite fond of as a soft horn.

  • Epic Horns is the most realistic sample library I own. I wish they could do some sort of epic version of all the instruments.

When you try the epic horns you'll understand ... their's simply no way any library can get better samples than this. And the Performance legato is just perfect! I don't own a huge sample library .. but based on my tens years of using synths of all kinds .. and various libraries .. Epic horns are the top.

I'll shut up now, If I sing any more praises people will be thinking the VSL are paying me to say this ;D .. (though I'd gladly say yes to a job!)

    Thanks for the recommendation.

BTW, I'm paid by the VSL people to ask these stupid questions...Not! [[;)]]

  • I bought Chamber Strings about 10 days before they went on that summer sale but I say they are definitely worth the non-sale price. If anyone is on the fence about the horns I would say buy now rather than wait for a Christmas sale. It seems that VSL raises the bar with every new library they release, their technology improving as they go.

I myself am putting Epic Horns on my short list.

Epic Cabaret Dancers all the way!

Without a doubt - the best idea of the day. Seriously - the way the epic horns are recorded and programmed is nothing short of brilliant. Have this same sound in strings and trumpets would be nice.

    Herb?

And without a doubt, the most difficult to get right it seems from experience. These two would be a great idea. Anything on this Herb? [:)]
