  • VIP Upgrade Price

The Upgrade calculator is not up and running with individual prices but it appears everyone has to pay the standard price for a Symphonic Cube..£2.600 in the UK and there are upgrade paths to the extended edition Full price £3,537. From my reckoning even if the upgrade to the extended edition is free for registered users of the full orchestral package (Pro Edition) it only values the original investment of £3660 in the Pro Edition at £963 in relation to not paying twice for the same samples.

I guess we'll have to wait for the calculators to kick in...

    Julian

  • Yeah... i'm not sure I quite understand it either. Not quite the VIP price I had hoped for

  • I sincerely hope VSL First Edition users will not be disenfranchised as it seemed a bit weird with the Opus thing for us to be honest. (I paid $3100 for 1st Edition two years ago before Opus was created.) Guess we'll see with the calculator....

  • please don't worry about your VIP prices - they had to be realized as (significant) discounts on the extended content for your already registered products.
otherwise it would have been almost impossible to sell it through dealers ...
    christian

ps: and don't forget - also the instruments using samples you already have licensed will be improved because you can use them now with the vienna instruments (engine). and they are 24 bit

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • but what if you don't want the extended content? We have no discount at all? none? even though we own significant portions of the samples in the content already?

Granted it's a great price if you hadn't arleady paid 3-5 thousand dollars into the VSL "system"

In my opinon this is not fair and renigs on claims/promises made when I was buying the first edition.

    thanks for the response Christian.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you mention "discounts on the extended content for your already registered products". Will I have to purchase a Symphonic Cube for the UK price of £2,600 then get some sort of deal for the extended package therefore meaning a minimum of £2600 to move from PRo Ed complete package to Symphonic Cube Extended? or is this not a subject to be discussed on the forums!

    Thanks

    Julian

  • cm,

So is there or is there not a VIP price? I just bought the Complete Orchestral Package and I am clueless where do I go from here!

let me give you an example: adding the extended content to your standard library VI solo strings will cost you EUR 30 if you have already HORIZON solo strings. please see also the shop faq
for more details i'd ask you to wait for the discount calculator

  • Ok... put you would have to upgrade your regular solo strings to VI solostrings first right? and then to the extended VI?

  • As a slight aside to this,Christian: when I upgrade from my First Edition, Giga format, what is my position regarding my original puchase? May I sell it, but then retain any future VIP upgrade options,by virtue of having purchased the Cube? Could you clarify that for me, please, because the First Edition will effectively be redundant then. Thanks.

  • you can't sell it

  • Buy these libraries at fantastic prices, and still enjoy the full benefits of future upgrades.! If you buy the Pro Edition, for instance, at the currently discounted price and upgrade to the Complete Symphonic Cube at the VIP price later, you’ll spend less than buying the Complete Symphonic Cube at full price.

So if someone buys the Pro Edition now for roughly $3900....are you saying the VIP price to get the Complete Symphonic Cube has to be at most $6300 minus the $3900 discount price? This is the only thing that seems misleading to me as far as what has been discussed so far throughout the site.

  • hang on [:P] if you purchase an upgrade from office X to office Y (for a significant lower price than a full version Y would cost) - would you then be allowed to resell your version X (from which you have upgraded)? of course not. but maybe i missed your point ...

  • I don't envy anyone trying to defend this pricing scheme. I realize that you have to make money but at the expense of your integrity? Ever hear of bussiness ethics?

  • I own Solo Strings.
Is what was stated above correct:
    1. You have to upgrade your original horizon Solo str. first.
    then...
    2. You can upgrade to extended lib. for $35...

    So....
..."For example, a user of the Horizon Series Solo Strings will be able to purchase the complete 38 GB of the Vienna Instrument Solo Strings Extended Library for a handling fee of only EUR30/$35!"

Is VERY confusing/misleading if this is indeed the case!

    PLEASE CLARIFY
    Thanks

  • Thats how I understand it - but others seem to understand it differently

Matt - wait for the discount calculator to kick in. I can't make head nor tail of the pricing structure at this point.

  • It seems people are jumping to conclusions without really knowing much about the situation.

It's true, the pricing scheme is a tad vague at the moment, but perhaps questions should be reserved until after Christian has had the opportunity to update the discount calculator; I'm sure it'll answer most of the questions that have arisen thusfar. I'm just as curious as anyone else, but I know the situation will be clarified soon.

    Cheers,
    Duncan

  • For the record:

I understand it, and it's perfectly fair.

  • From VSL Q+A

F: Why don’t VIP prices apply to the Standard Library?
A: In concert with distributors and local dealers, calculating an individual price for every single user would be impossible. Therefore, the price of a Collection’s Standard package is the same for all users.

This would mean that there is no discount for a Symphonic Cube even if you own the complete Pro Edition... however if you choose the extended version you will pay less than the full price for the extension. Unless the discount calculator (when on line) throws up a bigger discount it would not appear to represent a great deal for those who have already spent £3660 on the Pro Edition. Let's hope we're all proved wrong!
