  • Cool!!

    [:D] ...get it? ...cool?!!

  • Can't believe it. SUPER COOL. I'd like to know how those instruments sound like !!

  • I guess that they would have a rather hard sound and the usual idiots would jump up and say that the sound of VSL isn't "warm" enough [8-)]

This seems to be the maker's homepage and apparently he has made two CD's (unfortunately no demos on the website though):

I managed to find a site with some beautiful pictures and a link to an interview with the creator of the instruments recorded by Swedish radio. Some of this radio clip is in Swedish with a couple of the instruments playing in the background, but the instrument creator who is interviewed is English-speaking:

Reading more about it I remember now that there were quite some talk about this at the time concerts were to be held in Sweden. After the first concert Tim Linhart was disappointed by the performers' skills and in the last minute, with the audience already seated waiting for the concert to begin as I understand it, announced that he had cancelled the concert. The previous concert seemed to have been appreciated by the audience, so this came as a shock to everyone, not least to the people arranging it and the performers who were music students trying to put up with the hard conditions. So if Herb should decide to go for this he'd better find some good performers... [[;)]]

  • It's got to be hard to tune them.

  • Nice finding! Actually I couldn't imagine how'd they sound... certainly they'd lack the wooden sound we're used to!
