  • Was about to buy Chamber Strings, but then I noticed...

well... I noticed that Standard edition only has vibrato in all the sustains. Is this true?

Full version is way beyond my money right now, so I'm stuck with just standard edition. Mainly what I'd like to hear is an example of vibrato vs non-vibrato to decide if I could get by with all my string sequences having sustained vibrato. I'm still pretty set on buying, but I just want to make sure it's what I need.

Could anyone post a quick mp3? Pretty please with a cherry on top? [:P] Maybe even some testimonies from users of Standard Edition articulations?

  • You could buy Horizon CS today and save the deal on the EXT upgrade. Sustains with and without vibrato are marked there as existing content (from the sample lib) for violins - they don't mention that explicitely in the articulation list of the sample lib though.

    All the best,

  • holy freak you're right...

and I only have today to decide if I want to jump on that deal. DAM! Extremely tempting. The disadvantage is that I am stuck with using Kontakt when I'd rather use the VSL tool.

BUT IT HAS SO MUCH ARTICULATIONS! AHH!!!!! I can buy a copy from another dealer and still get a discount on buying VI I libraries, right? Because I'm sure sweetwater will have some left in the next week.

  • I also thought about getting it CS now... but I don't really need it atm and for that it's quite somecash. That's why I decided it will maybe be my first venture into the VI's as STD as this should cover most of my needs then [;)]

The discount will apply on every product you registered (at any time). So if sweetwater still will have them in stock after Sept 15th (better make that one clear with sweetwater so they don't have a special deal made with VSL to send back the packages) you will be fine.

  • HOLY FREAK DOOD! I call up sweetwater and guess what they say? "Yep, you reserved the last copy"

YOU SAVED ME A LOT OF MONEY POLARBEAR! [:D] [[[[[[[[:D]]]]]]]]

  • Dood, do you know what this means? I OFFICIALLY BECOME A VSL USER! YAY!

Finally I can show the community what I plan on doing with those lovely little strings *holds a knife*...

Anyway, I strongly feel that Chamber Strings are better suited for my desired sound than Orchestral Strings or Appassionata Strings. Especially if you head over to the Horizon Chamber Strings demo, listen to Illness and Recovery by Maarten Spruijt. It just sounds so movie-esque. You can't get such a sound like that with bigger string sections. The strings will do very well in fantasy settings.

  • Illness and Recovery is one of the best VSL demos IMHO. Have fun with CS! [:D]

  • you know I own Chamber Strings Standard VI .

This thread should be deleted, it is totally messed up ever since the forum change. All the replies got deleted except mines. I never got Horizon Chamber Strings and I'm very happy. I'm very glad.
