  • Vienna Ensemble 2.0.1 loading problem

What's meant to be different in release 2.0.1?

Being rash, I installed the apparently updated VE for WinXP, and found that it didn't seem to work properly.

I have a Cubase project with four VE instances and two Kontakt 2 instances, and it loads fine with the initial release of VE (as long as I load Kontakt at least once before trying to open the project file -- looks like a timing problem). However, with 2.0.1 installed instead, Cubase gets partway through loading all the VE instances, and stops doing anything, as do the partially-loaded VE instances; this happens consistently across reboots. VE 2.0.1 standalone seems to work fine.

I removed and re-installed VE to make sure, and the problem didn't go away with 2.0.1.

I've reverted to the initial 2.0 release, and things are copacetic again.

So, any clues I can offer about what might be happening, so you VSL chappies can figure out what the problem is? (My system setup remains as I reported in this post.)

  • I tried using 2.0.2, and find that it has the same problem that 2.0.1 had; it consistently grinds to a halt during loading once the second VE instance (which is the third VE process, including the server) starts up, and Cubase waits forever, presumably for some kind of acknowledgement that never comes.

So I'm still on 2.0 (which still works fine), because 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 are unusable for me in the current project.

  • Jolly good.

I've noticed that you seem to be doing an update roughly once every week or so -- does this mean I ought to expect the next version by about this weekend? [:)]

  •  We´re working on it...![;)]
