Hi, I just finally got into using the Epic Horns package, and I'm utterly confused. I'm sure it's just me : ) but I would love to have some answers to the following questions:

1. When I load the 8 Horns Perf Leg instruments, I can't seem to get a regular patch. Instead, there are little bits of notes that play here and there. So I went to the forum here, and now I'm thinking perhaps I needed to download the "performance tool." I'm not sure what that is, but it seems to be another complicated device that will make my Epic Horns legato patches play properly.

2. But if I don't have this Performance Tool yet, then why does my Opus 1/2 work just fine? The legato horns (4 horns) sound great there. And they're also Horizon series, as is Epic Horns. So, what am I missing here?

3. If I do download the Performance Tool, it seems to involve (according to the manual) several options, standalone, monitor, whatever else. And these all seem to involve further routing to the Performance Tool. And maybe something further called "Tool Templates" which are another download. I'm really confused by this! Here's what I need to do: I need to be able to work in Sonar, open up Kontakt as a VST, load in an Epic Horns Legato Patch, and have it play. So which of all of these options do I need?

Thanks! I appreciate the help! Sorry to sound so dumb, but I'm just a musician, not a computer whiz!

Oh dear. Now having read more, I see that since I already have Kontakt 2, the performance tool is already integrated into Kontakt 2? So maybe I don't need it separately? Perhaps that's why the Opus 1 and Opus 2 legato instruments seem to work just fine.

But then why can't I get the Epic Horns legato instruments to play? Any ideas?

I so appreciate any help I can get here! Thanks in advance!

First, let me clear up your confusion and say that you don't need the Performance Tool when using Kontakt 2. Don't give it another thought. Big Smile

On the other hand, your Epic Horns problem sounds quite odd. Could you perhaps expand upon this? I think your saying that one or two keys play intermittently but I'm not sure.

additional info: there are two tastes of kontakt programs available for registered products:

- for kontakt 1.5.x (not scripted, perftool and midi routing needed according to the setup guide)

- for kontakt 2.x (programs scripted, no performance tool needed for legato)

there is a *how-to* in the zip-file of the kontakt2-programs on what to take care (file structure)
