  • How do you search the forum?

Hi, How do you search the forum? The search field next to the help button in the upper right hand corner does nothing. Thanks, Dave

  • Hi Dave,

what are you looking for? The search button works fine here....

    Best,

  • of course you have to enter something into the field left from the search button first ...

on the result page you will notice also a link *more search options*

as a sidenote: it works context sensitive - means if you trigger it from the vienna instruments forum search returns preferrably topics from this forum and you can use the keywords: AND OR NOT NEAR

Emphasis on the word "button" here, as it doesn't search if you just hit return (as you might expect). At least that's the case in Safari.

  • Thanks for the hint - I´m using Safari and had no Idea why searching the vsl - forum didn´t work.

  • Hitting Return only ever works when a button is in focus. There don't seem to be any buttons in focus with the forum software, so you have to click. Obviously there are times when Return needs to, er, Return, so I suppose that in this case the Search button should only be in focus when the cursor is in the Search field.

Edit: Interestingly enough, the Post button came into focus when I clicked in the Search field, so hitting return posted this message!

We're all familiar with highlighted buttons, but this doesn't apply to Web UI search fields (confirmed in a PM from the webmaster of this site).
