Just found this Thread which I am going to explore. Others may wish to try it out and report how useful they find it. Unless it steals processor allocation from the VSL "Engine".

Look for the first post by "Logician" and follow it through where references are made to turning the instructions into an applescript. 

Ignore the references to Final Cut PRO and scroll down until "Zeeb" re-writes the Script and other explanations are given.
