  • Bass Clarinet Legato In Opus 1

    Hello

As a prospective Opus 1 owner (slated for January), could an administrator or current user tell me if a bass clarinet legato instrument is included? Is it rolled over into the general clarinet Performance instrument like the standard patches?

Any additional information/insights about other performance instruments would also be welcome.

My Thanks and best wishes for Xmas and 04

  • Could someone from the Vienna staff answer Heath's question in the interest of clarification? AFAIK the bass clarinet is not included in the opus legato patch.

  • I can confirm that there is no Opus 1 bass clarinet legato instrument.

  • To make it easy, here is a list of all performance legato instruments included in Opus 1

  • Thanks herb and cement - that's a pretty definitive reply. BTW, it won't affect my decision to purchase. I was already sold on Opus by "Somewhere Over The Horizon". However, forwarned is forarmed.

One more stupid question - it doesn't look like there are any alternation or repetiton tools in Opus 1. Is that correct?

  • No repetition stuff in Opus 1, but alternation mode and a lot of "keyswitch" mapping variations are included.

  • One nice thing about this library is that most - or at least many - of the staccato articulations come in two varieties. I've been translating these into Kontakt and setting it to round robin mode, which effortlessly gives some variety to the attacks without need of the repetition tool. This method also obviates the alternation tool for up and down bow strokes.
