    Hi guys. Sorry for this belated post. Tonnes (Imperial not metric) of (unpaid) work coming out of my ears at the moment. All I can say is this stuff had better lead somewhere :P Anyways, show 45 is up with 4 more pieces from the VSL Podcast Contest. I still haven't done the show notes but I'll get them out soon. I've also just sent off the Jay Chattaway Interview, Part 1, for approval and so with any hope that will be on the next show. I talk a little bit about Logic 8, and I'm planning a big review of this for people who haven't updated yet so you can know some of the things involved here .. and some possible problems. Also I chat about the new Template I'm working on. And a little bit about mix issues. This week contest entries 5 - 8 are played. Andrew McCallister, Jef de Corte, Gabriel Plalame, and Collin Thompson are shown. Big thanks to them and all who send in their pieces to be played. If you've sent me stuff to be played in the last few weeks it will be on the show .. I've just been really snowed under right now. And if I don't play your piece send me an e-mail and remind me.     Well... it’s seems that I’m definitely not a mixer.

    The master level is 2x too low. We hear nothing.

    I don’t really understand. I did this in Nuendo and couldn’t get a higher level without clips.

    Quite mysterious for me....

    Probably an ‘export’ trick I don’t get...

    You mean you're piece was too low? .. I thought the levels were fine .. at least compared to all the pieces I played. The only piece i Screwed up on was at the end of the show .. far too loud. Try applying a Limiter to the master mix. that usually helps boost levels.

    Yes the master level (sorry for the typo...).

    Well, I don’t know. The piece before has really a higher level (and sounds good to me) and my piece begins Piano, so maybe it is an explanation.

    But I still think my piece is too low. And if I play the file I sent you, the level is the same in MediaPlayer, so I conclude that the problem is really my file. I have some doubt about the limiter. The file sounds too low in general to me.

    Not easy to monitor MP3s with Nuendo 2, it doesn’t manage it. It’s quite ridiculous. I should do this in Samplitude.

    Nuendo needs to import mp3-files and converts it to WAV before it can use it.

    Hi, Dietz;

    Yes, that’s the point. I have to close Nuendo to monitor a file into MediaPlayer when it’s exported in MP3 format...

    Quite empirical, no ?

    For a 1500 bucks software.

    And particular hard to control the level.

    So, it’s the same with Nuendo 4 too...

    I’ll try to import the Nuendo’s original wav into Samplitude to see if I can master it better in MP3, if I have some time. It intrigues me.
