  • What patch for quaver or semi-quaver ostinatos?

    Hi

What patch do you suggest for quaver and semi quaver ostinatos on the strings? I am looking for something like the sound from 'The Drop' in the Bourne Supremacy score by John Powell.

I have orchestral strings I + II standard (not extended)

    Thanks.

  • Best results I've had are using repetition spiccatos - if you control the velocity crossfades you can make them sound very alive, with crescendos, accents etc. If you find it hard to perform them fast enough, create an 1/8 note pass, then duplicate that and drag the duplicate back a 1/16 note. Now you have 1/16ths and Vienna can run them as fast as you want. Overall, it's a very effective way of creating momentum...

  • Oops, I've just realized that with the standard library you don't get repetition spiccatos - well, all I can say is it's worth the money for all the L2 stuff!

  •  Well if you are going to spend your money - you might as well also get the chamber strings.   Those spiccatos are the best for this sort of thing (very tight with tons of character).

  • Hi

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try them out. I only have orchestral strings I + II standard edition. Not sure if I can afford to purchase another sample pack right at this moment. But I will try your suggestions, I still have some demo startups left on my license.
