  • Controlling Vienna Instruments from the score page

I was thinking about the John Frizzell thing where he just writes straight into the score page in Logic and the symbols and text on the score actually change the patches in the Vienna instrument (no key switching required), so what you see on the score page is exactly what you hear!! This means that I could write directly onto the score.

So I decided to see if I could figure it out and I got it working, very basic but still cool.

I have created a very basic version that moves between staccato to trills then a legato phrase and finally ponticello. This is all in the score with the patches being changed in Vienna by symbols on the score page. You can also catch the volume settings to control midi volume, and attack articulation symbols to control velocity.

If I have the time, I am going to create full a matrix for each of the strings and then do a full environment for them so I can write all in the score page and it will just play back.

  • could you post your templete?

  • Hi, Yeah no problem, although I don't know how to attache stuff here. If you send me your email address in a private message I will email it to you. As I said it is very simple at the moment, I have it moving from staccato to legato phrases and it also plays any trills that you put on the score. I am going to spend some time and really see if I can get all the articulations working. It shouldn't be a problem, just expand on what I have done so far. Anyway send me a private message and I will email you what I have got so far.
