  • how long to install woodwinds II library?

It has taken about 5 hours to load this library of 4 dvds onto my hardrive. Is this normal? My hd is fast enough to work well with VSL and other applications.

    Thanks

  • Once it is installed, what is the difference? It took me a few hours myself, but, who cares...

  • Thanks that's really helpful

  • It took me about 1.5 hours *if I remember correctly*.  As far as I can tell it is the performance of your DVD which will be the biggest factor as to how quick it can be.

  • Once you have installed your DVDs I would suggest backing them up onto hard drive. That way, should you need to install again, all you need to do is copy from one driver to the other., Much quicker than using multiple DVDs.

  • thanks...I know its not really a VSL question...its just that if my DVD writer can burn at up to 18x real time (which is transfering from a hard drive to a dvd), its kind of strange to me that the data on the VSL disk can only be transfered  in what must be close to real time. -could it be something to do with those filing cabinets and some special compression format? -

Anyhow, its all installed now , and the more difficult  matter of trying to acheive a passable cor anglais legato line is now the job in hand.

  • There is a lot of decompressing going on, that's why.
