  • Building a Computer for solely hosting VE

I want to have the entire special edition loaded simultainiously on one computer, sent out to my host system.  I want to have some headroom in case i want to purchase more than the special edition, ie some of the plus libraries. Also some headroom for Altiverb or the mysterious MIR.

I am poor and spending every penny i have on this system, so if you can suggest to downgrade anything that will be very helpful.

go below to check out my list.

  • Hi there,

Since I'm just building one myself right now, I'm up to date for once!

    - Motherboard: good, I bought the same one

    - CPU: good, I bought the 5130 cause it was cheaper and should be sufficient for a slave PC

    - Hard drives: no need for a 10'000 RPM for the OS on a slave computer, but if you want it...

    - OS: I would go with XP 64Bit and 16 or 32 GB (what I did) of RAM so you have enough to build just one template and forget about it! But this costs $$$

    what about PSU, case, graphics?

  • Yea i havent picked any out, my motherboard doesnt come with a graphics card?

    anyways what do you reccomend.

  • If my memory is right, the 5000SPL comes with integrated graphics but no audio, and the 5000XVN with audio but no graphics. Anyway, even for a slave, I wouldn't recommand the onboard graphic, but rather a cheap, passively cooled card like the 8600GT or similarly priced (around $100).

  • do u have an instant messanger s/n i can ask u some questions on?

are you absolutly certain that you need all 32 gigs of ram to build one uber template for special edition?

Where do u find such high density ram? are you buying quiet fans?

this is an update on my list, still unsure about the integrated graphics card, also i need a power supply and case. On a side note im looking into getting fans because i have a silent set up as of now and ild like to keep it that way. I also need a monitor switching unit.
