  • Gigabit Ehternet Question.....

Hi..... At the company I work for we are all on a "gigabit ethernet" system........All 295 of us!!! (so 295 computers on a gigabit ethernet system)......VE3 will run? With that many people on the network? Thanx, SvK

  • Sounds like a bad idea for very obvious reasons. If you're using Mac I suggest using the 2nd ethernet port if available, or if on PC getting an extra ethernet PCI card to access your slave(s).

  • Depending on your network topology, there should be no problems as long as your company switches have enough internal bandwidth and that the network is free of any broadcast or multicasting services.

Thus, if there is enough bandwidth in the switches, you will have a solid 1Gb connection to your slaves. This is after all the benefit of switches compared to the now deprecated hubs...

However, I would recommend you to try it out first. If your company has good Gigabit switches, like Cisco C3750G or similar, there should be no problem.
