    Hi there - potential first time buyer here. Just wondering if there is an equivalent downloadable version of the SE/SE+ packaged bundle? I understand the Standard version of the packaged bundle is currently $895 US, however I didn't see a download bundle and when pricing out the same package contents in a downloadable form, the total cost jumps to € 920.00. My logic for going with the downloadable version is that it will allow more flexibility due to the additional licenses included with the downloadable products. It is my understanding that each section (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion) includes its own license, which will allow me to potentially spread the sections across 4 PCs using VE3. Please correct me if I'm wrong here. Thanks!

    Your assumptions are absolutely correct. There are no bundles for our download products available, and the separate licenses for the different sections is also a reason for the higher price.

    Concerning flexibilty: You can load all samples of the Special Edition FULL Library into 4 GB of RAM, and you will be absolutely fine with 6-8 GB of RAM with the Special Edition bundle. A great option, also to be ready for more VI collections, is to get a 64 bit Windows machin and get more RAM as you need it.

    We have loaded more than 400.000 Samples into an XP64 machine with 32 GB of RAM already.

    Paul, one more quick question I forgot to ask. I'm assuming both VE2 & VE3 work with the Special Edition DVD bundle as well, correct? Since 6-8 GB of RAM is plenty for this library, could I slave my 64 bit system using Vienna Ensemble to the DAW on my Mac? I'd like to avoid having the Special Edition library installed on the same computer as my DAW. Would an additional license be needed in this scenario or is the single license enough since all of the samples will only be installed on 1 PC (the 64 bit slave)? Thanks again! Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

    yes, of course the Special Edition Bundle works with Vienna Ensemble 3, as all Vienna Instruments Collections do!

    And yes, you can use your Special Edition Bundle on your 64 bit PC, no problem. You won´t need a second license, if you intend to run the Special Edition Bundle only on your PC.
