    Are VI extended licenses available only through VSL directly or can one purchase them from retailers?

    all distributors and authorized dealers also can check your update status and issue extended library serial number certificates.

    Hi Christian,

    Can you confirm that the Gutar Center, who is an authorised dealer, order and sell the extended licenses?

    I have bought the Cube and the Appassionata from the GC but ILIO refuses to sell any extended licenses to GC.

    There are other stores like West LA music and AudioMidi.com that do sell those but why not the GC?

    i can confirm this ... but .... i'd assume ILIO doesn't like to sell certificates for extended libraries before the product is out, since it seems a few people are not willing to read or fully understand a procedure ...

    scenario 1: ILIO creates the certificate, sells it to GC, later the DVD product arrives, GC ships both to the user, the user registers and is happy.

    scenario 2: ILIO creates the certificate, sells it to GC, GC sends it to user, user cannot register (because standard is missing), user is unhappy.

    (not considering when charging whom for what and about loosing or forgetting certificates, ect)

    since scenario 2 has turned up to be more common than scenario 1 i can understand people like to avoid it ...

     

    basically VSL tends and tries to just keep out of any relationship between distributors and dealers, so it's really up to them to straighten out their proceedings ... all we can offer is an option to create serial number certificates for extended libraries ... some do and some do not ...

    Hi, Guitar Center is not authorized to sell Extended Library's for a few reasons. There are too many GC stores and they are not setup to verify what a customer owns. Only a few dealers are authorized to do this because it can be a complicated process and if not done correctly, can result in a mistake. Because it isn't a physical product and prices vary depending on what the customer owns, only a select few are willing to do the process.

    So in the United States, does one contact ILIO to determine who is authorized to sell extended licenses?

    Hi Aplanchard, Sweetwater, AudioMidi.com, Computers & Music, B&H Photo, West LA Music, and Alto Music are all setup to do Extended Library's. Of course, you can give us a call and we can process an Extended Library for you as well. You can also place an order directly on the Vienna Symphonic Library website.
