  • Sonar 7 x64 and Vienna Strings

    Hello,

I've just installed Sonar 7 and Vienna strings on a Windows XP 64 system.  I'm not able to find the softsynth [Vienna Strings] in any menu in Sonar.  I've heard there is a "bit bridge" that will enable 32 bit plug ins and instruments to be used in Sonar 64.  Does anyone know how to enable this bit bridge feature?

    Thanks.

  • Have you used the plugin manager to scan the VI's VST folder?

(I'm making a rash assumption here as I haven't yet upgraded  from SOnar 6 to 7.)

It should then appear in Sonar's default plugin list.

  • welcome scratch,

    VI / VE is already 64bit on 64bit windows, so you shouldn't even need a bit-bridge ...

  • Thanks guys for the responses.  Yes, I'm familiar with the VST scan.  It's listed in the Options-Global-VST plugins tab.   I guess I need to know where to point the vst scan.  Obviously, there a certain file that Vienna Strings plugin installs that Sonar will read to enable it as a softsynth.  Do you know what the file name might be so I can find it?

    Thanks

  • if i understand you correctly you are looking for the Vienna Ensemble.dll and/or the Vienna Instruments.dll - during installing vienna software there should have been a dialog *select a folder to install VST plugin* ... i personally always select a seperatly created folder, but you might have been offered an already existing one and just confirmed ... eg. C:/programs/Sonar/VST/ or similar

  • That's right... [:)]

When I installed both VI and Ensemble, I made sure they went in a directory called:

    c:\program files\VI_VST

In sonar, from the plugin manager, I simply added and pointed to this directory. Hope that helps.
