    Hi -

    Back from hiatus, very excited about VE3.  Will we finally be relieved of the need to shuffle library licenses from one machine to another?  I have the full library loaded on 2 machines but only use them on the ones that have the corresponding license in the key.  Sometimes, I would like to have different combos, but the license shuffle is a hindrance.  It seems to me that now that all of the processing is being done within the VE 'family', VE3 should be able to detect the license on whichever VE3 machine its on, relieving us of the shuffle!  Yes?  No?

    Actually, that's a tremendously good idea if it could be implemented.

    The Ensemble software is seen by other machines on the network. Could it not search for a dongle with a licence for a library? Once found, the instruments could be loaded, regardless of whether the dongle is on the same machine as the library, as long as the dongle is somewhere on the network?

    Thus I can spread the instrument load in the same way I was (and still) able to using the pro-library alongside.

    This was mentioned well over two years ago, so it is not a new idea. Christian did explain why, in great detail. Unfortunately because I'm rather stupid, I don't remember what the reason was, and I'm not sure that I really understood it anyway. Maybe doing a search will illuminate things for you.

    basically the reason is that syncrosoft doesn't offer network autorization, which is good as it is IMO ... everything which goes across network can be sniffed and faked ... finally it means you couls *rent* your libraries across internet, which is not the idea of the invention ...

    Apologies if I'm nitpicking, Christian, but if the key had to be on the master to work, period, then VE3 could open the patches anywhere it wanted, as long as the library was authorized on the master station.  Syncrosoft network authorization would not be necessary if VE3 were the one passing the license status. This would also prevent sharing the library over the internet, as the VE3 licenses could restrict the passage only to slaves that were on the same license.  I refuse to believe that this is beyond your programming capacities, given the miracles you have worked in every other category!

    at least it is beyond _my_programming capabilties ;-) ... serious: currently it is the other way around - the MASTER does not need a license, i'll put that into discussion when time has come ...
