Dear All,
I’m hoping that I understand the process required to install Vienna Ensemble 3 on a slave PC. Here are my questions:
- Do I need a special “Crossover cable” to connect between the Ethernet ports of my master and slave computers, or will a standard Ethernet cable of the sort usually used to make conventional internet connections do the job? How does one create a working gigabit Ethernet connection if one doesn’t have MIDI Over LAN or FX Teleport?
- Once I’ve installed V E 3, can I simply reinstall my various V I collections on my slave computer and then, inserting my Vienna Key USB dongle, have them operate just as they do on my stand alone PC now? Do I have to reenter my serial numbers for standard and extended libraries or will inserting my Vienna key do all that?
- Assuming I have just Vienna Ensemble 3 and my V I collections on my slave PC, can I just fire up as many instances of V E on the slave as I need and have them function as if they were VST instances on my local host? What’s the difference between running V E 3 on my slave as a stand alone vs. a plug-in in Sonar 7 PE, which is my DAW? How do my slave and master know the difference between a stand alone instance and not?
- Since I have V E 2.x on my host, will I have to overwrite it with V E 3 as well as installing V E 3 on my slave computer? If V E 3 is on both slave and master, how will I be able to tell whether I want a remote instance or a local instance in Sonar 7PE?
Best,
Kevin
