Concerning PFP's.........Are you sure there are PFPs?...They are NOT listed in the sample contents...........Sample contents only list many Crescendo/Diminuendo patches........PFP's are different from those..........HERB?
I very much want to be able to effectively mock-up Bernard Herrmann's sound....PFP's in sordino will do the trick.

I'll second this - the PFP's are critical!!!!!!! Rob
what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

SvK Sample Content (Dynamics) shows "Medium crescendo and diminuendo, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 sec.; Crescendo-diminuendo, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 sec". Maybe the latter is a pfp-like articulation? "Crescendo-diminuendo" articulations must be different from the keyswitched "crescendo and diminuendos" listed before them, and they sure sound like the kind of thing you're (quite rightly IMO) campaigning for.

I LOVE the sound of the pfp dynamic patch, just so expressive, and I'm sad its not in the original Chamber strings. :-( How do you guys replicate the pfp dynamic in Chamber strings I?

Yeah, thats how I'm currently doing it, but for fun tried to A-B this method vs the pfp patch and it doesn't come CLOSE to the expression in the pfp patches (especially the short ones). Maybe I'll try overlapping the cres-decres patches....

This solution is 'ok' - but not as convincing as the pfp's. Some the best patches for all libraries - really breathes life into sequences. Anyone going to post the Chbr's pfp's???? Rob
what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Why wasn't pfp included in Chamber Strings I ? Is this an articulation not normally associated with unmuted chamber music? Was there a musical rationale for the decision, or a business decision?

I"ve had VSL libraries since 2004 and in that time they have listened both to their library content and their customers. The end result is that their technique in sampling instruments has improved. In fact, they have driven the level of the industry higher. The main reason some articulations are not present in some libraries is that we all are learning how to do this stuff better - evolution of the art and craft of sampling.

The Violin 8 sec PFP...is a knock-out....the vibrato "grows"....ALSO......I'm guessing here but it seems you guys have pre-eq'd these puppies :-) If I'm not mistaken a lot of that nasty 2k stuff is gone (nice....or am I wrong?)..........NOTHING in this library "hurts" the ear...Very little EQing neccessary...IMPRESSIVE!
