  • Cannot create plugin error

Hi. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and have started experiencing strange problems when trying to load VST plugins in the effects or sends of Vienna Ensemble (64-bit), for reverb etc.

Instead of loading happily, it displays the following message:

    Error

    Cannot create plugin <plugin name>.

    OK

None of my VST plugins will work. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

The 32-bit version is fine. There's something odd too: 64-bit VE displays all installed 32-bit VSTs, whereas 32-bit VE only shows the non-VSTi ones (which makes sense, I suppose). Is there anything funny going on there?

    Thanks,

    Julio [:)]

  • Are you trying to load 32bit plugs into the 64bit version of VE? If so, you can't. You need to use 64bit versions, which may or may not be available. Contact the plugin developer to find out.

    Thanks for the reply DG.

Yes, that's exactly what I've been trying to do! [:D]

What is surprising is that it had been working for me earlier: I remember triple-checking it at the time (64-bit service and host running some massive memory madnessā„¢ with my 32-bit plugins happily in tow) because it seemed too good to be true. I suppose it has decided to come down to earth since then. Very strange. Ok, I'll switch to 32-bit then.

    All the best.

  • This week I ran into the same sort of problem. The only plugin that will work in Vienna Ensemble x64 is iZotope Ozone 3x64.The waves IR1 fails to load with the message 'cannot create plugin' as do all the other (old) x32 plugins. That an x32 plugin will not work in an x64 environment is as expected.

But ... in VE x32 ALL x32 plugins (also Ozone 3 x32) fail to load and they all return the message 'cannot create plugin'.

Another problem I encounter is when running VE x64 as a plugin in Sibelius 5.2. Adding the Ozone plugin doesn't do any good for the resulting sound. It malforms it into something staccato-ish and crackling.

When I run the plugin in the x64 stand-alone version all is (sounds) well.

Is there anybody who can help?
