  • Question about purchasing woodwinds samples

I'm interested in the solo woodwinds samples and I don't know what to do. Should I buy one woodwinds volume before the July 15th discount runs out or should I purchase the instruments individually on line? I can get a pretty good discount on the woodwinds if I purchase them now, but I certainly cannot afford both woodwind volumes.

I can't figure out precisely what articulations will be included in the the new download offer, but it seems that not all of the samples and articulations in the woodwinds volumes on dvd will be available in this initial download offer.

I can't find any pricing information and this makes the decision more difficult.

I have the orchestral cube (from way back) and more recently I acquired VI Special Edition.

Any suggestions, relevant ideas or observations would be appreciated.

If I am missing something here please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Marko

  • basically the *single instrument downloads* will contain patches similar to the standard libraries from the respective DVD collection.

if you're not sure and can't decide now reserve your discount emailing a short note to sales.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  •  Thanks Christian.

Would you provide me with the email address for sales?

    Thanks again.

  • OK.

I contacted sales and secured my extension.

    Thanks!

  • Cm, do the single instrument downloads upgrade you to the Standard version of the instrument? E.g. the version licensed with the purchase of a standard library from the SC?

    Cheers,

    rob.

  • yes and no - it will upgrade you to the respective articulations but it is still whole tone mapped, whereas the patches on the DVD products are half tone mapped.

  •  "whole tone mapped, whereas the patches on the DVD products are half tone mapped." What is meant by this?

  • Whole tone mapping means that one sample is mapped, or shared, between two notes - the sample will be pitch shifted for one of the notes and will therefore not sound as realistic as half tone mapping, where each note has it's own sample.
